“This hotel is absolutely disgusting. Do. Not. Stay. Here. When I stayed the room was dirty, the beds are uncomfortable and literally squeak with every little movement. The air system is non existent. The heat pump/ac unit was the loudest and woke me up constantly. The window still was peeling off - THE WINDOW STILL!! - due to water leaks. The restaurant staff was very nice but the three of us that ate there thought the food was gross - dry fish, greasy food etc not to mention grotesquely...

“We arrived at 1:00pm and thought we would get lunch at the hotel. Their restaurant/bar were closed until 5. We were woken at 11:30pm that night with a fire alarm. We had smelt a sewer smell in the hallway all day and reported it. I called about the fire alarm and was told I could stay in my room because it only went off due to someone lighting a cigarette in the men's bathroom. Would not recommend this hotel.”

“Continues to be my chosen place to stay in Halifax. Grand old hotel with a lot of character. Great location for shops, restaurants and walking.
I’ve stayed in both the smallest and largest of rooms in the hotel, and although there are parts of the hotel that could use some fresh paint and tlc, I appreciate that the little things are always high quality: big towels, great toiletries, Nespresso machines in all the rooms, and top notch staff.

“Overall an ok stay. Super clean and charming, unbeatable location. Some details could make the experience 5 star. All doors are very squeaky, which was disruptive in the middle of the night. There is virtually no sound barrier between the room and hallway, so it feels like you can hear other people breathing through the walls. The bed was VERY low to the ground and mattress felt cheap and dated. A few improved details would really make this place a hidden gem.

“The staff were amazing very friendly and attentive. The breakfast buffet had limited options but the food was decent. A few areas of the hotel were being renovated and the elevator sounded like it was going to break anytime it started to move. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were very clean. I would stay there again. ”
