Getaway
The house was located centrally to all activities that we had planned. The house also offered an older charm with all the modern amenities required for a delightful stay. We enjoyed the gorgeous view from the deck after each day’s activities. We hope to plan another getaway to this lovely house!

Excellent location, cozy and unique!
The hosts were very responsive and accommodating! The location is great for the incline, hiking and the cog train. The town is walking distance too. You get great privacy at this location and it was a quiet retreat . I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to a friend or family. Thanks for a great weeeknd!

Ideal location & property with great character
I can’t imagine a better place to stay in Manitou than this home. We walked to the Cog rail, restaurants, shops & so much more. Hosts were fantastic & it was such a relaxing vibe. So glad we didn’t make the mistake of choosing a hotel - this gave us a true Colorado experience. Highly recommend!

Great location
This house was cute. It had so many unique characteristics. The location was perfect. You could walk into town, walk to train depot. I hope to make a trip there again. The owner was quick with responses. The house was very clean and everything you would need was already provided.

Central location for CO Springs exploring
Spent part of our spring break here and adventuring around COS. Easy location to several COS locations and also easy walk down to Manitou Springs. Enjoyed the mornings on the porch with a cup of coffee.

sweet house built into the mountain
4 of us where visiting MS for a long weekend. 4 ft of snow fell just before our arrival and Jean hustled to get the house ready from previous guests to us. Not easy on very narrow road, driveway, and steep steps into the house. Because of the snow we couldnt do the incline but moving around the house and town was incline enough. We loved our stay and have to come back to enjoy the wonderful outdoor space at the house.

Delightfully Eclectic and Comfortable
I really enjoyed my stay at this home. It’s perfectly eclectic to match the Manitou Vibes. Very clean, comfortable, and well stocked. Tons of great outdoor seating with views of the mountains and DT CO Springs. Jean was incredibly patient and helpful with me, as I can be a little technology challenged at times. I would highly recommend staying here. Thanks for the wonderful experience!

Manitou Springs Full Flavor at Foot of Pikes Peak
Barr Trailhead, genius crafty brewing, elevated genuine NY pizza, fabulous green chili, Pikes Peak cog railway Garden of the Gods hiking and much much more walking distance or short drive away. And of course .. views that will stay with you for a lifetime.

Manitou Springs/Cog Railway stay
We were a group of 60+ aged adults coming for weekend of exploration/fun. House is definitely unique! Kitchen is near entrance - very well appointed with lots of supplies! First floor living area is nice - but small with only 1 sofa. First floor bathroom is nice - but quite a few steps away from the sleeping areas. Steep stairs to 2d and 3d floors - we had no issues but be aware. Great master bathroom outside master bedroom on 2d floor. Nice 2d floor sitting area with more sitting space. The 2d and 3rd bedrooms are actually the attic - accessed by a set of very narrow stairs. If you are tall like I and my husband, you will be bending over once at top! Beds were as described - we used one side and one of our friends slept on the other side - it's all open once upstairs on 3rd level. NO FIRE ladder for 3d floor that I could find. We used the hot tub - nice to have its own space. Tub is small - best for 2 people! It snowed while we were there - snow shovel provided at entrance. Host let us know that the city takes care of road - and they did! If coming when snow possible 4WD a MUST! You are right at Manitou Incline and Cog Railway when you stay here - loved hearing the toot-toot of the train when it would depart station - so it can be a little congested there but totally manageable. If a hiker - the Incline is steps away as is Barr Trail. Host Jean was easy to reach/fast in responding to queries/fixed some lighting issues for us.

great place for a family
Everything was as you would like it. A good number of rooms for sleeping, and for gathering to do puzzles, games, or watch TV. The wrap around porch was as great as it looks in the picture - we sat out there in the morning and night looking over the amazing view. Wonderful mountain property.

EASY TRANSACTION
Property was mostly as described. The only issues we had was an abundance of cobwebs on ceiling in second story bedroom and the ceiling fan needed cleaning of dust buildup, as well as dirty drawers in dresser. Overgrowth of shrubbery over hand rail was a possible safety issue on narrow, steep stairway. We did not make use of hot tub, or kitchen on our stay. Check in and directions were adequate.

Host arrived to address cobwebs on 9' ceiling; realized those are actually paint marks. New ceiling fan has been installed. Dressers are antique and drawers sometimes appear that way.

The stairs from the street level up to the third floor was an athletic feat. Having to go from the 3rd floor bedroom downstairs to access a shared bathroom on the second floor in the middle of the night was inconvenient. The seating areas were very nice.

Great view and location!
Would highly recommend. Amazing view and quick drive to garden of the gods. Hot tub great, place very clean and well appointed. Lots of stairs… if you have toddlers or mobility issues, might look elsewhere but we were fine.

Manitou weekend
Stayed at this property for the Pikes peak marathon ascent weekend. It was a great weekend and we enjoyed the location and amenities of the house. Unique and well maintained, lots of character!

Beautiful sunrises!
We are a family of 5 -- one 12 yr old, traveling with his parents & his grandparents. It was the perfect location -- a quick drive into town, and walkable to the cog and the melodrama dinner/theater -- yet it so quiet & peaceful when we returned home. Oh, and the sunrises viewed from the 2nd level front porch were fabulous!

Perfect location
This is a lovely, historic house in a perfect location. Just up the hill a bit from the cog on a private road but close enough to town if you are in the mood for a walk. Beds are very comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need. The property is beautiful and the view from the top porch of the mountain, the city lights at night and the sunrise in the morning was the best.

Awesome Place!
This was a girls' trip and there were 4 of us all over the age of 50. This place was awesome! Just as shown in the posting on VRBO. The view is spectacular. You can hear the stream running by the house. You are located on the Barr trail and right near the Incline. If you are going to downtown Manitou, it is about a 15 minute walk. But, there is a free shuttle located at the Cog Rail station. Just can't say enough good things about this rental. But, beware, there are a lot of steps! :) Did not bother our group in the least! The hot tub was awesome also! Would highly recommend! Thank you Jean!

Beautiful house with great view
We had a wonderful stay. The house was clean, exactly as pictured, and arrival was easy and convenient. We were close to all sorts of activities. We went rafting, visited garden of the gods and pikes peak, and visited the shops and restaurants in downtown Manitou. We also had a great time relaxing at the house hanging out on the porch and looking at the beautiful view. Would highly recommend!

Overall great stay! The house is a bit difficult with toddlers because the stairs are so steep both outside the home and inside. If your kids are over 5, highly recommend!

Great view of Manitou springs.
We were really impressed with the our stay here, very clean and very nice property. The views were just breathtaking and the ease of access to everything was great. The property had more than we could even use, everything worked great, had plenty of room. Overall I would highly recommend this property to anyone that's interested. Thank you for opportunity to stay at your rental, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Family winter vacation
We had a super fun stay. House is well built and inside furnishing are well thought out. Our family of 5 stayed and was perfect for teenagers to stay in loft. Do recommend if staying and any possible chance of snow being chains. Road was plowed in morning. But slight rain / ice made it little tricky getting up and parking at house even with 4 wheel drive. It’s a lovely home and fun staying up in the mountings. Super quiet area.

Every Thing you could want on historic street in Manitou and location.
First, Let me say, I have stayed at a few properties with this host Jean. Every one of her properties including this one has never disappointed. Including the one we just returned from this week up by Salida. So the Manitou property is up Ruxton Ave. and across from the Cog Railroad up to Pikes Peak which was still running. It's up a hill and I will say you have rock stairs to climb up to get to the house. Then the house which is more or less built into the side of the mountain is very unique and I am always fascinated by either the original or the work the host has done on her properties. The huge "Plus" is the parking spaces outside the property as the Manitou area is bad for that. You will probably need to drive down to the main part of the city but it's less than 5 min going very slow. I grew up around this area of Colo. Spgs. and I can't tell you how pleased I was. If you want to be a tourist or a hiker or just a shopper in Manitou it;s at your finger tips. If you have kids they will love the third floor I suspect

Perfect getaway
This property was great for a girls weekend away. Property is as described. Owner was quick and responsive to communication. Be prepared to climb lots of stairs both inside and out. Beds and linens were comfortable. Would love to come back with my family!

Perfect Location
A beautiful, clean, historic home perched in the best location in Manitou Springs. Fabulous views day and night. It offers all the benefits of being in a remote, quiet location, yet it's so close to all of the best area attractions. Safety and security are a high priority, too. Jean was very attentive and super easy to work with. We would definitely stay there again!

Unique Mountainside Hideaway
A very unique house, that is updated with all the modern amenities. Really enjoyed all the space and to be able spend every morning with a cup of coffee and every evening on the upstairs deck, with views of the mountains and Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs below. A nice 15-20 minute walk to Manitou Springs, the last 500 ft of uphill definitely gets you acclimated to the elevation, but it's nice to be off on a quiet private road. They provided everything we needed, including games we took advantage of on a cool evening. Thanks for the great home away from home while visiting our son at UCCS. A beautiful home, with quiet mornings to enjoy a sunrise over the mountains and quiet evenings with a sky full of stars.

The Ruxton Retreat was everything that we wanted with our stay. There were plenty of amenities to make it feel like home as well as plenty of room for our family of 7 to spread out. The view and the old charm of the home were both beautiful!! It was hard to say goodbye.
