Guest Access:
Entry: Self check-in via the lock box on the unit door. Your 4-digit door code is sent through the Traverse digital guidebook 24 hours before arrival, along with the underground garage gate code, your assigned locker number, the Wi-Fi credentials, and a parking map.
Your private space: The entire 2-bedroom condo is yours for the length of your stay, plus one assigned space in the heated underground garage and one dedicated ground-floor gear locker.
Shared building spaces (all guests): Year-round outdoor hot tub, grill deck, lobby lounge, elevator.
Check-in: 4:00 PM. Check-out: 10:00 AM. Early check-in or late departure is sometimes possible — message us at least 48 hours ahead and we'll confirm based on the cleaning schedule.
During your stay: Our local guest-experience team is reachable by phone, text, or VRBO message — typically under 30 minutes during business hours, with 24/7 emergency support.
The Neighborhood:
Black Bear Lodge sits in the Mt. Crested Butte base village, directly across from the West Wall Lift and Westwall Lodge — the closest cluster of condos to the West Wall chair. Walk outside, cross to the Westwall courtyard, and take the skier tunnel to the lift in about 3 minutes, no shuttle needed.
Base area (5-min walk): ski rentals, equipment tuning, casual restaurants, coffee, après-ski, and a general store.
Downtown historic Crested Butte (3 miles / 8-min drive, or free Mountain Express shuttle): six blocks of painted Victorian buildings on Elk Avenue — independent restaurants, craft breweries, art galleries, weekend live music, and a summer farmers' market.
Seasons:

Airport: Gunnison–Crested Butte Regional (GUC), 28 miles south, ~40 min — direct winter flights from Denver, Dallas, Houston, and Chicago. Denver International is 230 miles / ~4.5 hr (watch Monarch Pass in winter). Altitude: 9,375 ft — plan a low-exertion first 24 hours and hydrate.
Getting Around:

✔ Walk to West Wall Lift: ~3 minutes via the outdoor tunnel at Westwall Lodge (no shuttle required).

✔ Free Mountain Express shuttle: stops at the base village, runs every ~15 min to historic downtown Crested Butte.

✔ Rideshare (Uber/Lyft): available but limited, especially winter early mornings. Local taxi also operates.

✔ EV charging: not at the building — nearest is the Lodge at Mountaineer Square (~5-min drive).
Garage size heads-up: built to mountain-condo scale. Standard SUVs, sedans, and crossovers fit with room; full-size pickups or vehicles with roof ski racks may need surface parking (fold mirrors on entry).
