Catlett Gap Historic Homestead

La Catlett Gap Homestead si trova in una valle a circa metà strada tra Winchester e Berkley Springs. La capanna era preesistente alla guerra civile ed era una fattoria intestata alle Catlett; alcuni dei quali vivono ancora nella zona. A un certo punto la cabina è menzionata nei registri dei movimenti delle truppe confederate, e apparentemente lo stesso Stonewall Jackson trascorse una notte all'interno della cabina durante una tempesta di neve. Ma ci sono alcuni comfort come una smart TV, Wi-Fi, HVAC, caminetto, barbecue, pozzo del fuoco, radio satellitare, bagno, cucina moderna completamente attrezzata. La combustione esterna è consentita solo in quelle due aree e solo quando il rischio di incendi boschivi è basso. Dispone di 2 camere da letto e un divano, e può ospitare fino a 9 persone con 2 ospiti su un materasso ad aria. Altri servizi all'interno includono un camino in pietra molto grande, una piccola biblioteca della fauna locale e altri romanzi classici, oltre a un lettore DVD e una raccolta di DVD di circa 300 film. C'è anche un portico coperto con sedie a dondolo. E ci sono 4 stagni vicino alla casa, due dei quali sono provvisti di pesce gatto. È consentita la cattura e il rilascio della pesca. Nessuna licenza richiesta. C'è anche un armadietto pieno di giochi da tavolo. A causa della zona locale, ci sono molte attività divertenti da fare tutto l'anno. Ad esempio, in estate, la pesca è grande e ci sono molti posti nelle vicinanze. In inverno, la stazione sciistica di Whitetail è a soli 50 minuti di distanza, e stare in cabina e guidare è molto più economico rispetto al resort. Cacapon State Park è a soli 5 chilometri di distanza e ha sentieri escursionistici e passeggiate a cavallo, pesca e nuoto. Berkley Springs ha centri termali e antichi centri commerciali e buoni ristoranti. Winchester ha uno zoo specializzato in animali esotici. C'è un Lion alimentare e una macelleria gourmet a Berkley Springs, e c'è un nuovo super-Walmart a Winchester, a seconda di dove vai. Per prenotare questa proprietà, gli ospiti devono avere almeno 21 anni.

Great place

Nice cabin with great property. Endless things to do if your into the outdoors. Relatively close to all stores for being a pretty remote cabin. Would definitely recommend. Will be returning in the future.

A peaceful time away from home.

Cute little cabin with lots of trails behind the cabin to walk on. Three ponds with fish. The dog enjoyed watching the fish eat. Plenty of room for a big family to hang out. A liitle noisy on the front porch due to being so close to the road, but its pretty secluded. Saw a groundhog, squirrels, blue heron, bald eagle, a toad and a box turtle all on the property. Would recommend!!

Found this property to be exactly as described. We loved the rustic cabin. The property itself was fantastic. Enjoyed using the shooting range and walked along the ATV trail.

Gorgeous cabin

This was an amazing cabin surrounded by beautiful wooded acres. Everything was provided - linens, kitchen items/appliances, washer/dryer and TV/WiFi. And it's pet friendly. There are three ponds and my dog had to check them all out. The owner was very helpful in answering my questions and overall communications were great! I hope to be able to visit again soon.

Beautiful Cabin

Absolutely beautiful stay! The host is amazing. We loved the Koi pond, the outdoor grill and fire pit is the best. I absolutely recommend this cabin! I look forward to staying again!

Great weekend away from the city. Did some weapons safety training and drills with an instructor, then cleared and cleaned up our gear and finished off the night with steaks and bourbon. Awesome property, thanks for sharing it!

Definitely returning!

This property is the perfect place to enjoy a laid back time away. My sister and I stayed for a girls weekend and couldn't have had a better time! We had everything we needed, enjoyed a fire outside at night, trails during the day, and is in close proximity to both Berkeley Springs and Winchester for "out and about" fun. We are looking forward to staying again!

Great rustic great-away

We chose this property for its charm and location. The kitchen was well stocked and the fireplace/woodstove kept the cabin warm and comfortable. We also enjoyed a walk in the woods and feeding the koi and catfish in the ponds.

Nice getaway

Nice country getaway for my hunter husband and my beagles that live to sniff everything outdoors. Lots of acreage with clear trails to walk also a nice shooting range for my husband to shoot his bow. The kitchen was nicely stocked with all the necessities and more. I am look forward to coming back in the spring with my grandsons.

Beautiful Rustic Cabin

Spent a peaceful week here with our two dogs. Plenty to do, including nothing! From sunbathing on the dock to feeding the koi and catfish in the three well-stocked ponds. Sitting around the campfire or sharpening your aim on the 3 target ranges. Grilling on the charcoal grill or over the fire. Plenty to see and do in the area as well. In Winchester you can sample the many fine restaurants and pubs and stroll the shops. Or venture into the countryside and sample the wines at Valerie Hill or James Charles Wineries. Or head north into WV to historic Berkley Springs where you can stroll through the shops or take a dip in the healing waters of their mineral springs just like our founding fathers did in the past. You can even see George Washinton's bath tub! Visit Cacapon Resort State Park where you can swim in the lake and lounge on their white sand beach, or hike the many blazed woodland trails. Supplies are minutes away if you need to restock at the Liberty quick stop where you can fuel up. And grab a Godfather's Pizza there as well. And don't miss out on the fresh made sandwiches, local produce and yummy baked goods at the Shawnee Springs Market. Plenty to do inside the cabin with a well-stocked kitchen. The library inside the hutch is well varied, with many classics. We enjoyed paging through the camp history binder and seeing all the owners' pictures and hunting stories since back into the 70s. Just an awesome place to spend away from the world and re-charge. Don't miss it, you won't be sorry!!
