Island Retreat for Nature Lovers

Enjoy beautiful Dauphin Island in this treehouse-like getaway filled with works of Southern artists. Walk or bike to beaches, Audubon Bird Sanctuary, Native American shell mounds, quaint shops, galleries, bakeries, live music and restaurants. My wife and I stayed for two weeks. The home is lovely with plenty of room. We could have happily shared the space with more people. We really enjoyed the outdoor spaces - second floor decks and the large concrete patio under the house, which was very comfortable in the heat of the day, and a comfortable spot to fire up the grill. It was actually quite nice being away from the beach, because the house remained cool with plenty of shade, and the neighborhood is absolutely peaceful and quiet with tall pines everywhere. They supplied many essentials - plenty of towels, beach towels, detergent, washer and dryer etc. The home is located centrally on the island, and a few blocks in from the main road. We brought our bicycles and enjoyed using the bike path to go to East Beach / Fort Gaines area, Isle Dauphine area / beach on the south side (which is in/connected through the neighborhood), and every restaurant on the island. On dining, we were genuinely impressed with the food at Islanders (west side) and The Carriage. We loved sitting outside on the deck at The Carriage, which has a view of both the bay and the ocean. Pirates at the Isle Dauphine Golf Course area is really cool for a fun drink with amazing views. We look forward to retuning and would absolutely book this property again.

Relaxing and enjoyable

The property is well maintained. The furniture is showing a bit of wear but still comfortable.The online pucs show a bunk that is no longer there.Loved the spices, provided games, spacious kitchen and outdoor seating area. Old grey kitty blessed us with his company. Poor guy. We were able to clean him up with wipes, feed him and get some good kitty lovins! Friendly Spoke with neighbor who said kitty is skinny/dirty due to advanced age. We loved spending time at the beach, crabbing and taking the ferry! Excellent property!
So.sweet!
Love the panty, even had a small ice chest!

It truly was paradise in the pines

As a family of five this place was perfect. The kitchen has everything you would need to make delicious family meals. They provided the perfect amount of everything from trash bags to cleaning supplies. The whole place made for a comfy and memorable stay. The balcony provided a perfect place to relax after a long day on the hot sand at the beach. I can’t say enough good stuff about the whole experience. We are typically not one to repeat a stay on our travels but we will 100% be back again. Thank you to our host you went above and beyond and it shows.

Amazing property and Island to stay at. Beaches arent packed. Island resturants are great. Friendly folks all around. And plenty to do.Property comes with everything to make you feel as though you were at your own home making for a wonderful stay.

Best VRBO ever. I’ve stayed at several different houses at Dauphin Island, but after staying here, I’m ruined. I’ll definitely be returning. House was beyond clean, charming, spacious and homey. Just beautiful.

Loved it!

This was the perfect house and location for a weekend getaway with the kids! It was clean and well stocked. We played the games in the cabinet every night. The location is great for bike riding. We rode everywhere we wanted to go all over the island!Thank you for a great stay!

Restful Retreat 🙂‍↕️

Very pleased with the decision to book a stay here. This place is incredibly clean and neat, spacious, equipped with all of the convenient amenities, and located in a peaceful neighborhood. We both have high-stress jobs and ultimate relaxation is paramount on our vacations, which is exactly what the Island Retreat Cottage provided us. Very grateful to the hosts for prompt communication and I would highly recommend staying here to anyone looking for “the spot” on Dauphin Island!

Disappointed with lack of communication!

The house is perfect but I messaged the host 3 separate times about 3 separate issues and got no response whatsoever. I was extremely disappointed that there was no communication about questions that were important to me.

Great place!

Really clean, comfortable and spacious! Loved the big deck and outdoor seating areas, the nature sounds of the trees and wildlife. We really bonded with the neighbor's cat Wiley as well. The place was clean, well organized and labeled and we had everything we needed. The only thing that bothered me was not having a body mirror for getting ready but that was minor lol. We would love to stay again!

Retreat in the pines

Quiet location prefect for a relaxing getaway. The porch was perfect for morning coffee listening to the rain, or at night listening to the birds. The house had everything we needed even sound machines in the rooms to help the kids fall asleep for a peaceful nights rest. The owner was great to work with.

Paradise In the Pines

We have been to the island multiple times and stayed at several properties. This house has it all. Great location (Centralized to the entire island), comfortable beds, plenty of room for a family, ouside dining with a seperate lounge area. We come to the island to reconnect as a family. We spent most nights fixing dinner and eating as a family. We will definitely be back to stay.

Pretty darn near perfect

DA is our favorite quiet beach experience and is the easiest place to stay non-beachfront. The house is perfect for a family-especially one with teens who want privacy and are too old to clump together in a bunk room. The house is new, clean, and spacious with great bathrooms and a kitchen that is more than well stocked. Beds were super comfy and we all slept well in the quiet. Loved the porch and places to sit for alone time. One day the ac struggled and was promptly addressed by the owner. We will definitely stay here again and loved it!

Tranquility in the Pines

Knight and Matt’s home is beautiful, clean, and well-appointed with local artwork, comfortable furniture, and everything you could possibly need. Right down to the spices and cooking essentials, their home is fully equipped. A view of pine trees outside every window enhances the serenity of the property. My husband, another couple, and I drove down from NC to witness spring migration (which never disappoints.) This will be our go-to place to stay for many returns!

Relaxing Island Bachelorette Trip

I rented this house for my sisters weekend bachelorette trip. It was perfect for relaxing on a quiet dead-end street. The house is updated very clean and cozy. 10 out of 10 recommend and will be renting again. The host are so accommodating and reply quickly. This goes down in the books as one of my favorite vacation homes.

Wonderful time in the Pines!

My father, boyfriend, and I had a wonderful visit at Dauphin Island and enjoyed staying here. It was our first time staying in the Pines vs the beach but it was so relaxing and the house had everything we needed. 10/10 would recommend and will be back!

-Peaceful- Paradise in the Pines

We throughly enjoyed our stay here for our short visit to the island. The home is beautifully decorated and very clean. The entire home was fully stocked with all the necessities. The quiet neighborhood helped make for a very relaxing trip. Only thing I would’ve changed is some darkening shades/curtains in the bedroom so we could’ve slept in later but even without, we still rested very well. Thanks for helping make our trip one of the best! We will definitely be back!

Wonderful Vacation Rental

My sisters and I spent a week here. The house is beautiful, clean, and well stocked. We really enjoyed the covered outside deck and spent a lot of time there. Anytime I had a question, the owners immediately answered. Dauphin Island is a quiet little gem in the Gulf of Mexico. If you are looking for low key and non-commercialized, this is the place to go. We plan on returning soon.
