“Spa facilities and location excellent.”

“I'm the same person who rated 5,0 below, few months ago. I was so entusiasthic right then that I decided to stay again in this hotel despite I was going to drive 45 minutes the day after. I was wrong, this time I had a complete different experience. The bathroom this time was molding and old, i got 3 towels 1 large and 2 small, the large one I had to use in the pool because they had none to give me and one of the two small was dirty. Not cool. The food made me wonder if they have changed cook or...

“Great location at the heart of Carlisle and close to cathedral and castle, perfect for sightseeing. Lovely to stay in a historic hotel that’s beautifully maintained and looked after. Gorgeous high ceilings, stained glass, marble and wood panelling, so much better than modern hotels where everything is plastic. Perfect for a weekend break.”

“The toilet was very small which was difficult for us but otherwise everything was good. Breakfast was delicious and the room was perfectly clean.”

“I chose a more budget room, so my view wasnt very nice and overlooked by other rooms (the garden is lovely so maybe consider upgrading to a garden view). However, the room was large, well maintained and I didnt notice any significant cleanliness issues. Bathroom had plenty of surface space for toiletries. The car park can get quite full if an event is on. Food and drinks I thought a little pricey (large glass of wine and a burger £37). Pool was nice and lots of gym equipment.”

“Needs major investment in upkeep, maintenance has been severely neglected since last visit.”

“Stanze piccoline ma essenziali. Quelle sulla strada potrebbero essere rumorose. Letto e bagno ok. La WiFi funziona male.”

“As a first time visitor to the Borrowdale Gates Hotel I have to say what a wonderful experience. The location was perfect with access to many hiking trails. The staff were pleasant and very attentive to our needs, the facilities including the restaurant were excellent, serving very high quality food. After spending several days at the Hotel I am convinced we will be returning. From two happy customers.”

“This has to be the craziest room I've ever stayed in, in a good way. The floors were sloped the furniture was sloping in line with the floors. Bed comfy amd bathroom was nice and clean. If you are after a quirky stay then this place is for you.”
