This property would be great if you went with family or friends as there are shared/communal facilities. We brought our toddler and dog along. The outside facilities are run down and the grass is long and not safe for the dog to explore. Not to mention to 3 pointed jacks everywhere too.

Love the old world charm. Rooms were big and well furnished, and while things were neat and linen was clean, the actual place could use a good scrub and airing as there was lots of dust and dampness. The free continental breakfast consisted of mostly-empty cereal jars and no milk. However, it was great for our one night stay, fitting all 6 of us in the master suite with (it's only one) adjoining room. We particularly enjoyed a family pool tournament!

I loved staying here, such a grand elegant house of a bygone era. Absolutely stay here if you love the Carrington in Katoomba. I was fortunate to have the place to myself for the two nights. Easy check in, more an Airbnb than a hotel really. Convenient location to Dubbo. I felt like a queen staying here and will very happily book again.

This is beautiful old homestead with very large rooms and great furnishings; even a tennis court and an enormous billiard table. The rooms are cool in hot weather and also quiet. It's a short drive into the centre of town but I wouldn't call it walkable. It's family friendly, so there will be other guests with noisy children in common areas, but that goes with properties of this kind. Staff are not on-site, but responded immediately to an inquiry when we arrived. Highly recommended.

Although a little in need of some updates, the room was spacious and comfortable. Roadside traffic was noticeable but not too distracting. Would stay here again.

Beautiful ambience. Parts need a vamp. Green bathroom needs shower screen fixed. Garden needs a tidy up. But generally joyed out stay and meeting new people.

It did not looked’cared for’ and was not overall very clean. You helped yourself to ‘breakfast’, we declined as nothing looked fresh. Lots could be done to this property and it would be wonderful. The shower was missing a panel so water went everywhere in he minuscule bathroom which was not an ensuite as expected.

Property & our room was unclean even though we arrived 1 hour after check in time. Staff did their best to rectify the situation but having staff quarrel in front of guests was quite unprofessional & uncomfortable. Having cleaning products and a vacuum cleaner sitting in the common areas for hours whilst guests were arriving was also quite odd. It was 35oC when we arrived in Dubbo. Property had an AC in one common area that no one knew how to turn on (staff included)? & we had just one cheap $20 Kmart pedestal fan in our room with no flyscreens on the windows. It was over priced for our one night stay. I'm sorry, but we do not recommend this place :(

I'm so sorry when you arrived on Tuesday 27th December Ranelagh wasn't fully prepared in time for your arrival, this is very unusual. However, Ranelagh's head housekeeper Karina on arrival informed you of the circumstances behind this being the case. Karina apologized and asked for your patient's while the housework was completed. The reason Ranelagh wasn't prepared in time was due to a mix up as to when the guests from the previous night were leaving, house staff had mistakenly believed those guests weren't leaving till the next day. Once the oversight was realised rather than cancelling the arriving guests booking those staff available were immediately called in without notice on a public holiday to prepare the house for the new guests rather than turn them away. I commend my staff for their commitment in a stressful situation as this was. The air conditioning at Ranelagh is evaporative, it runs right through the whole house I don't know why it wasn't turned on. I find it surprising that anyone while knowing the circumstances behind a problem and that everything was being done to solve that problem would choose to condemn a service provider with such a review.Sometimes reviews reflect more about the reviewer.

What an unusual review! Mostly guests enjoy their stay and appreciate Ranelagh for it's charm and historic character. As for this guests disappointment with a shower screen and subsequent poor review, We have intentionally left the third panel of one of our shower screens off as it has been broken three times prior by guests. As they say "Safety First". Sometimes a guests review says more about the guest than the property.

Great house not far from centre .! Loved the house but my kids thought it was horror house and couldn’t sleep ( watched too much movies ) one of single beds rock hard rest comfortable. Stayed with 4 adults 3 kids .. was great for 1 night stay in Dubbo. Breakfast included but don’t expect much of it

It is a beautiful house with antique furniture a huge pooltable. Lovely to meet other guests in lounge . Beautiful swimming pool, we played tennis. A fantastic house we could share.

The only thing I would like to see in each bedroom is an aircon.. being a shared facility I don’t really want to leave the bedroom doors open to let cool air in from the rattling old evap aircon..

Old world charming house. We felt we had gone back in time 100 years. We yarned around the fire place into the night. The common spaces were delightful as was our very large bedroom.

All the rooms displayed were the same price but the Green Room was a far inferior offering - small and with separate tiny space for shower/toilet. This property is unattended but we didn’t receive a check-in phone call and email. It was a pretty strange place which did not match the hype seen on another website. The breakfast was minimal. Cleaning was dodgy. Towels were nice but hard to manipulate in such a tiny space. Certainly not 4.5 stars nor even 4.

More Sharehouse than Bed and Breakfast! A wonderful historic house that was beautifully restored (at some point long past). The curtains were torn, the bed creaked with the slightest movement. Paper-thin walls meant I could overhear the conversations of the two guys in the next room. The room description fails to mention there is no ensuite; instead, there is a shared bathroom. I couldn't believe it given the price of the room. There is no host on-site; upon arrival, I was greeted by the sight of a guest and his dog sprawled on the lounge. I originally thought I had come to the wrong entrance.

The property has been a beautiful home in the past. It needs a really good clean inside and out, don't know when it was dusted or cleaned last. The only housekeeping done at this property seems to be the change of linen. It really needs someone to live in so it can be looks after properly.

Beautiful period property. Sympathetically restored but with some work left to do. Unhosted property. Shared kitchen and living areas, depending upon others on how comfortable you feel in these areas. Unfortunately during our stay there were 2 families who took over the kitchen and lounge and did not have regard for others staying at property. In saying that we probably would stay there again

We chose to stay elsewhere after stepping inside. There were mice running around and one relaxing in the living area. Additionally, the bathroom (shared with 1 other bedroom) were unlocked and open, right next to the living area, so it was full of mosquitos, flies and available for use by other guests. There was a severely drunk man in the garden, shouting at a dog. The entire place needed some TLC, and an actual onsite staff member to put some mouse traps down/welcome people. Honestly the worst place I have ever booked.

The initial impression of the house was wow as it is very old and ornate , however the layout of the house the close proximity to other visitors and the lack of bathroom facilities was disappointing. Breakfast was lacklustre and confused as no one knew what they could consume and what belonged to others .
