Relax and get away from it all
Everything you need to escape the city for a weekend away relaxing in nature. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. There were several areas to sit and eat a meal, read a book, or play a game. We enjoyed hiking around the property, going into Floyd, and just getting away from the busyness of life. All of the furnishings were comfortable, and the design is beautiful. We highly recommend a stay at the former cider house.

SW get away
This house was amazing! Exactly as described. Very comfy bed with extra pillows. Loved the attention to detail like mirrors in bath and bedroom and the sound machine! Host also provided a house guide book with detailed info about the house and surrounding area. As host clearly states in the description there is no internet or cable so make sure you plan accordingly. Also the location was a bit too remote for me.

Beautiful and peaceful
my husband and I needed a stress relieving getaway in a beautiful place, and this was it! We loved walking around the orchards, and drove to Buffalo Mountain to hike to the top for the 360° view. we brought food and wine, which was important because it's a bit of a drive through the country to the nearest restaurants.

A Wonderful Space for Relaxing!
What a lovely place! We loved the style of this unique cider pressing building converted to am inviting and comfortable rental. The grilling area was perfect for us to enjoy some locally sourced meats and produce, and the setting by the orchard is so serene. We enjoyed hiking through the property (using the maps provided by Diane) during the day and relaxing and thumbing through the nice collection of books in the evening. We hope to be able to return again in the future!

Writer’s Retreat
This property is contemporary jewel box on a gorgeous rural property. I choose this location for the quiet and to be out of the way of distractions. I took hikes on the large property with varied terrain and natural beauty. The clouds were gorgeous and the stars bright. I enjoyed cooking in the well appointed kitchen and outdoor grill. I will definitely return.

Beautiful
The place itself is very clean and beautiful. But what was unexpectedly amazing was that we were able to watch the meteor shower because of the brilliance of the night sky and ability to see stars due to no lights around!

I'm happy you were able to catch a meteor shower during your visit to the Cider House. Our dark night sky is one of the perks of rural living...plus the lightening bugs that dot the hillsides in late summer. Come back in another season and watch the Milky Way paint the sky!

Taste of the countryside
What me and my wife were hoping for: a quiet, rural and homely accommodation to recharge for a few days. What we found: A furnished deck with gas grill, abundant wildlife, fireflies, a fully equipped kitchen, endless stars in the night sky, and a warm and soft bed.

Peaceful Retreat
I was looking for a middle point to lay my head while I enjoyed all the activities during my visit to the area and the Cider House did not disappoint!! The house was clean, well stocked, and had everything I needed and then some. Diane was super helpful answering all my questions about the area. The house is located off an extremely quiet street with beautiful views in every direction. I was treated to beautiful sunsets each night during my stay. Highly recommend!

Lovely stay in the apple orchard!
We stayed two nights and will be back again as soon as we can. The rental is one of the best places we have ever stayed in. The owners did a remarkable job in transforming a former apple cider pressery into a super clean, sophisticated, fun place to stay with all the touches you could ever want in vacation rental. The Blue Ridge Parkway, Floyd, Meadows of Dan are all close enough or you might just want to relax in a the beautiful surroundings of the former Foggy Ridge Cider. It is a little bit out of the way but once you get there, everything else is out of the way. Very private but the owners live over the hii and had excellent communication. Great kitchen set up, great shower head, granite sink counters, super comfortable bedding ..... Ten stars out of five!

I'm delighted you enjoyed your stay in the Cider House—we've worked hard to make this space a special one, and a tribute to its time as a cider facility. I love your line about our farm being "a little bit out of the way" but when you get here "everything else is out of the way." Of course other than the night sky full of stars, trails for walking on the farm, and lots of wildlife. Thank you for such an enthusiastic review...come back in fall when the apples hang heavy on the trees.

Perfection!
The Cider House was exactly what we hoped for, and then some! What a gem in a gorgeous setting! The view from the cozy porch with our morning coffee was beautiful and calming, and the drive in was stunning! Diane couldn't have been more responsive and accommodating! It was a fabulous weekend!

I loved staying here! The property was beautiful and super quiet... which is what I was looking for. Everything was perfect and very comfortable! I wish I had time to go and explore the trails a bit more while I was there, but maybe next time!

A very unique stay
We loved the layout of this property , it was unique and offered a lot of natural light throughout the day. Diane responded very quickly to our questions even if she was not in town. The kitchen had all the required tools and a very large sink and Island which were appreciated. Additionally there were cool wooden puzzles, many books, and cards for entertainment. There is an office/bunkroom but keep in mind that the master bedroom does not have any doors.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at the Cider House! The large covered crush pad at this former cider production facility is an ideal spot for morning coffee or nighttime star gazing. The open floor plan includes a King bed divided from the front entrance by a floating wall with book shelves and space for storing clothes. A pocket door separates the twin bedroom from the entrance. We hope you come back to this unique space in another season!

2nd trip and will not be the last
This was our second anniversary stay in October. We love exploring Floyd and the surrounding area and we love to grab some groceries and head back to this awesome house for a romantic dinner. We can't wait to come back. Diane is great!

The Cider House, and our neighboring property, The Garden House, are ideal for special occasions like your anniversary, as well as get-aways during the week or weekend. There is much to do on the farm as well as nearby Floyd, Meadows of Dan and the Blue Ridge Parkway. I hope you can return soon!

We thoroughly our stay at the cider house. It’s a unique property with plenty do in the area. The peace and quiet was needed and we’re thankful for it. Diane stopped by for a chat and was gracious and friendly as always. This is our second stay at the orchard. We stayed at the cottage down the hill before and loved that too. I only have one thing to nitpick. There is a device on the electric fence across the driveway to keep the critters out of the apple orchard. I understand it is necessary. I just wish it was further away from the cider house as it makes a “tok” sound every second. Could it be moved away from the cider house? Other than that it was a great stay.

If you’re looking for a place of serenity this is it. I traveled solo and couldn’t get enough of the orchard view and outside porch. To hear the cows in the background was an added bonus. Wonderful host!!

Overall good cleanliness...I'm sure it was vacuumed well but with concrete floors, the parameters retained dust, etc. At no fault of the owners, there was a lot of truck and maintenance noise around. But overall it's a very restful area. We loved the layout of rooms and choice of furniture, etc. Good job!

We had a wonderful time on a quick weekend getaway to Foggy Ridge Cider House. The crush pad was a perfect place to sit and read and watch the rain come down on the apple orchard in front of us. The bed was super comfortable and I loved going through the library of novels that were just my style. We will be back.

The cider house was a unique place to stay the night on our way home. Everything was clean and comfortable. There were lots of thoughtful touches throughout the property. Amazing mix of modern and industrial in an apple orchard
Loved this place. It is so unique, clean and tastefully decorated as well as being comfortable, well equipped, quiet, and restful. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. We grilled on the loading dock, watched the birds in the evening and the fireflies come out, then a totally dark sky of the brightest stars.

Peaceful country experience
This is our second stay at the property. We stayed one night on our way home from an extended road trip. The property was exactly what we needed…peace and quiet in the country! We arrived and checked in easily. It started to rain as we were preparing dinner, but no worries the BBQ is under a covering. We enjoyed dinner while listening to the rain fall and looking out over the orchard. Rain held off for us to take a walk down a country lane. Bedroom was comfortable and nicely appointed. Took advantage of the books and magazines available to read. Full size washer and dryer and full kitchen was a nice change from the hotel rooms we stayed in earlier in the week. If you want a relaxing and unique place to stay, look no further!

The crush pad!
I love this place. The best part is how the living area(fermentation room) opens up to the crush pad. The open space is very inviting and feels very private. And if you like privacy this is the place. Not having wifi didn't bother my wife and I a bit. We had just enough signal to do what we needed, play music, GPS, etc. And we have at&t. Well worth the cost. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic Get Away
Quiet retreat just outside of Hillsville, VA in Dugspur. Beautifully designed & decorated - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cozy Cider House getaway. Large king size bed with another room with bunk beds if you have young children. It also has a large living room that has a glass roll-up door. Friday morning, we looked out and saw a wild Tom turkey strutting his full plumage for his two companions. Saturday morning we rolled up the door & sat outside on the covered porch drinking coffee, eating breakfast & watching the sun come up. It is so peaceful & quiet, you can’t help but to relax with the sound of the birds.

We are glad you had a wildlife sighting while visiting the Cider House here on our 250 acre farm. Wild turkeys are a favorite sighting, especially the Toms with their tails spread! Come back in a different season and enjoy a long walk on the farm or nearby hiking and biking trails. Every season has its charms!

Wish we had planned to stay two nights so we could have sat all afternoon on the covered patio! Very quiet, very serene. Beautiful renovation. We didn't have any problems with GPS and our Verizon did work at the house.

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay in our renovated Cider House! Spring and summer are beautiful seasons on our 250 acre farm and we hope you had time for a walk by Rock Church Creek. Verizon service has become more widespread and we've found that most guests can now access this carrier and others as well from our rural location...good news!
