Perched atop 10 private acres bordering national forest, The Steel Nest is a modern mountain retreat designed for slow mornings, fresh air, and long evenings spent outdoors.
Surrounded by trees and complete privacy, this architect-designed cabin offers a front-row seat to nature. Spend your mornings sipping coffee as sunlight filters through the woods, the afternoon exploring the property or nearby trails, then unwind with a soak in the hot tub as the sun dips behind the mountains.
With no neighbors in sight and miles of protected forest beyond, it's the perfect setting for couples, friends, and solo travelers looking to reconnect with nature without sacrificing comfort. This is a spot to soak up the fresh forest air, spend time outdoors, and enjoy the cooler evenings that settle in after sunset.
The outdoor spaces were designed to help you slow down and enjoy the surrounding landscape, whether you're reading in the shade, sharing a meal outdoors, or spending an evening around the fire.

One of the most memorable features of the property is the outdoor shower. Tucked away in the back of the home and facing the national forest, it offers a uniquely peaceful experience - whether you're rinsing off after a hike, cooling down on a warm summer afternoon, or simply enjoying the feeling of being immersed in nature.
As evening settles in, gather around the outdoor fireplace with your favorite beverage, listen to the sounds of the forest, and watch the stars emerge overhead before ending the night with a soak in the hot tub beneath the trees.
The Experience:
The Steel Nest is a place to disconnect from schedules, screens, and distractions. Spend the day hiking, reading on the porch, cooling off in the outdoor shower, soaking in the hot tub, watching wildlife move through the forest, or simply enjoying the rare luxury of uninterrupted quiet. The cabin does not have air conditioning, which is part of the mountain cabin experience here - many guests enjoy opening the windows, letting in the fresh forest air, and spending their days immersed in the property's outdoor spaces before settling into the cooler mountain evenings. For those who wish to stay connected, fast Starlink WiFi provides reliable internet for remote work, streaming, and video calls. Whether you're looking for a true digital detox or simply want the flexibility to answer a few emails before heading out for the day, you'll have the option to do both.
Inside the Cabin:

What We Provide & What to Bring:
We’ve stocked the cabin with essentials to make your stay comfortable from the moment you arrive, including linens, towels, paper products, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. You’ll also find starter coffee supplies (K-cups, creamer, and sugar) along with a selection of basic pantry staples.
For longer stays, you may want to bring additional supplies to suit your needs, but what’s provided will comfortably get you started and often lasts through a long weekend or more. If you plan to enjoy the indoor wood stove or outdoor fireplace, please bring your own firewood.
A Note on Comfort & Mountain Living:
The cabin is designed to embrace its natural surroundings, with no air conditioning by intention. Thanks to the elevation, surrounding forest, and walls of windows, the space stays comfortably cool for most guests - even on warmer days - while evenings bring in crisp, refreshing mountain air.
This is a place to open the windows, listen to the sounds of nature, and experience the rhythm of warm days and cool nights. If you enjoy fresh air and a more connected, natural environment, you’ll feel right at home.
For those who prefer consistently cold, climate-controlled temperatures (especially for sleeping), this setting may not be the ideal fit. Here, comfort comes from the mountain breeze, not the thermostat.
To ensure The Steel Nest is the perfect fit for your getaway, please review the following details about the cabin's unique character:
- Embrace Nature: There are no window coverings in the cabin, allowing you to wake up with the natural light and fall asleep under the stars.
- Hot Tub: We drain and refill the hot tub between each stay for cleanliness. It may take until the evening of your arrival for the water to reach its target temperature of approximately 102 degrees.
- Mountain Air: The cabin does not have air conditioning. The cool mountain air and evening breezes typically keep the space comfortable, but please be aware that it can get warm on summer afternoons.
- Unplug & Connect: There is no TV in the main living area to encourage connection and relaxation. The only TV is located in the primary bedroom.
- Cozy Acoustics: The open design means sound carries between floors—perfect for conversation, but something to keep in mind for your group's privacy.
OUTDOOR CAMERA: There is an outdoor camera facing the parking area as well as a trail cam at the entrance gate. They are on 24/7 and can record video and sound.
