Laughing Gull on the Key! 3min walk to beach Sunsets! Kayaks, Bikes and More!

The Laughing Gull cottage features two bedrooms: a king bed and a queen bed with luxurious linens, a comfy mattress, plus a queen sleeper sofa. A quick 3-minute stroll to the beach, and the relaxation begins! Enjoy one of our on-site bicycles to explore the key, or take a kayak/SUP to the Gulf or Bay. Unwind in our tropical backyard oasis by one of our wood or gas fire pits. Laundry, BBQ grills, outdoor showers, and everything you need for the beach are provided. Pack your bags and head to the Laughing Gull nest! This unit comfortably sleeps no more than five adults, but with children, it sleeps up to six people. The property has been beautifully renovated in 2025, featuring a newly renovated kitchen, bathroom, new furnishings, and luxury details. A thoughtfully appointed kitchen, dining table, living room with queen-sized sleeper sofa, one king bedroom, and one queen bedroom are among the comforts offered. Savor your morning beverage or evening cocktail on your private screened-in lanai or next to our gas and wood-burning fire pits. We offer other conveniences such as contactless private entry, microwave, range, Keurig coffee maker, and refrigerator. Free Wi-Fi is available. A cable-connected 55” Smart TV in the living room and 40” TVs in each bedroom allow you to view shows using your favorite streaming apps. Other shared amenities include on-site laundry, BBQ grill area, bicycles, and kayaks for your use. We provide beach carts, chairs, umbrellas, beach towels—everything you need to get the most out of your day at the beach, just a short 3-minute walk. In five minutes, you can launch a kayak/SUP in the bay. Grab one of our beach cruiser bicycles (adult-sized) to explore the key or find just the right place to enjoy a spectacular sunset. Paddle around Lemon Bay in one of our kayaks, or Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) offered with your stay. Spend the day fishing off the local pier or walking the beach to find shark's teeth and shells. For a real treat, keep an eye out for dolphins, manatees, and perhaps a sea turtle hatchling making its way to the sea! Conveniently close are our island restaurants, ready to satisfy your culinary cravings. Take our weekend island shuttle so that you can dance the night away to live music at some of our neighborhood establishments. Manasota Key has boat and jet ski rentals and parasailing as well. This cottage is the right side of a very quiet duplex shared with our other unit, the White Pelican. Our property has a second building for a total of four units. Building two has the Piping Plover and the Oystercatcher.

Our family very much enjoyed our stay at the Laughing Gull while on the Island. The condo was extremely clean and great for our needs. Being a 3-5 minute walk to the beach and having a beach cart provided was awesome. Additionally, the opportunity to use the kayaks and go down to the State Park was fantastic. We didn’t use the Bikes but having those as an option to use was great. It has so many conveniences and Jen - the host - was helpful and welcoming. We would highly recommend this condo, or one of her other condos, for anyone looking to experience Manasota Key. Great stuff!!

We had a great time! The property has a ton of amenities that we take advantage of during our stay like bikes, kayaks and a fire ring in the back yard with a supply of firewood. The host must have anticipated every tiny need of a traveler and filled the kitchen with all appliances and supplies one could possibly think of. Same goes for the bathroom, just like in a first class hotel.

Everything about the property was great. I didn’t really like how everything was shared among multiple rentals. Luckily for us, the other units were not booked so we had everything to ourselves. Not sure I would have had the same experience having to share common outdoor areas and amenities with other people. Other than that, everything was great, and the hosts were very professional and helpful when needed.

Great place! We'll be back!

This home fit our family with young children perfectly. It had everything we needed during our short stay. It is well maintained, clean and well decorated. We love how things like life jackets, beach chairs and towels, an umbrella, a cart, and a grill are all included. The kitchen was equipped to make meals for us. The beach was just a few minute walk away. We found lots of beautiful shells and shark teeth! It wasn't packed with people either. It's just a short 10-15 minute walk down the beach to stump pass state park. We saw dolphins there and even more shells and shark teeth! I really have nothing negative to say. The price was good and the home was comfortable. We are thankful we chose this one for our vacation!

Easy check in. Jen had thought of all the details big and small to make your experience and stay as welcoming and comfortable as could be. From the welcoming fresh smell, snacks, complimentary beverages chairs for the beach, wagon, kayaks, bikes to the cooler for the beach and so much more. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

Great little cottage

Three adults and one child came for the weekend and it was great. Really great location. Short walk to a beach and had all of the amenities one could need. Jen was super responsive to messages! Would definitely recommend and stay here again

Perfect cottages!

All of the Shorebirds Cottages are absolutely perfect to rent for couples, and now, for our whole family! While small and cozy, they had everything we needed, or forgot to bring. We enjoyed the ease of the kayak and bike use and the laundry facilities are pristine! The entire rental is perfectly located and very clean. Jen and Eddie have done a wonderful job fixing up after the 2024 hurricanes-the whole city has done an extraordinary clean-up since our Christmas visit, we were pleasantly surprised! PS-The extra large, super soft bath towels were a bonus! Can’t wait to stay again!

Exceptionally well appointed

Newly renovated, clean, comfortable, close to everything and quiet. Has EVERYTHING you need, even dryer sheets. Snacks and drinks waiting for your arrival. Even has a "shibumi" for the beach. Couldnt have asked for anything more. Will bebstaying with Shorebirds for our next trip. Just the vacation we needed!

All the small things!

Awesome cottage, you can really tell the owners put a lot of thought into making sure guests have everything they need. We felt like we could have shown up with clothes and would have been set for the week. Toiletries, spices, sunscreen, beach towels, beach toys, books, you name it and they likely had it somewhere on the property! They even had a welcome basket with snacks, wine, beer and waters. The place was spotless, beds were extremely comfortable. We couldn’t have asked for anything more for our stay!

Stupendous Sunshine Stay

Everything about this place was just perfect! The location is brilliant, close to the hustle of Englewood beach and a skip from the nature/splendor of Stump Pass, with bikes SUPs and kyacks to get you from one spot to another. The home owners were exceptionally responsive and the space was so thoughtfully equipped from beach gear to the finer details like travel size shampoos and extras. Most impressive to the foodie-the kitchen utilities were top notch, knives were sharp, quality pots and pans etc. just truly made our vacation over the top!

Wonderful Bungalow by the Beach

I highly recommend the Laughing Gull cottage! It is an immaculate, beautiful and peaceful space shelter from the Florida heat after a day in the sun. The proprietors provide generous accommodations for guests' every need - from pre-stocked cool drinks in the refrigerator to beach chairs, umbrellas, bikes, and kayaks available for use right outside the door. The outdoor fire pit provide a wonderful space for guests to gather in the evenings. The lanai in the front of the rental is a nice little space to enjoy coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening in cooler weather. The AC was easy to operate and was wonderful to step into after an afternoon on the beach! When I go back to Manasota Key, I will book the Laughing Gull!

Another excellent stay

I stayed with my parents at Shorebirds. We enjoyed a nice, relaxing stay in the perfect location. Jen & Eddie have thought of everything... from the outdoor shower to welcome snacks & drinks to coolers & umbrella for the beach. We took the kayaks for a paddle on Lemon Bay, searched for baby sharks teeth & walked to the sunset every night. We couldn't really imagine a more perfect stay. Thank you!

Exceptional Accommodation

Our first trip to Manasota Key and Laughing Gull / Shorebirds was a great find! The unit was spotless, absolutely the cleanest, best maintained VRBO we have ever visited, and we've been to many. New furnishings and appliances, quality cookware, comfortable bed, water pressure in the shower (and an outdoor shower!), plus a lot of little extras and nice amenities that conveyed the owner's appreciation. Very highly recommended!

Manasota Key & Shorebirds are a Hidden Gem

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Shorebirds on Manasota Key. The unit and hosts couldn't have been nicer! Short walk to the Stump Pass State Park and you find yourself on a lovely stretch of the gulf shoreline. We look forward to returning again next year.
