Piping Plover on the Key, Nautical and Nice, Paddles away!

The Piping Plover is your nautical inspired nest at this boutique resort on beautiful Manasota Key! Get ready to captain a SUP/Kayak on the Gulf or Bay. Ahoy! Newly renovated in 2025 just a 3 minute walk to the Gulf waters and shell strewn beach. Part of the Shorebirds Beach Cottages property, this cottage features two bedrooms/one bath, a king bed, a queen bed both with luxurious linens and comfy mattress, plus a queen-sized sleeper sofa in the living room. Explore the Key on our on-site bicycles or voyage out on a SUP or Kayak. A ten minute walk and you arrive at the gem of the Key, Stump Pass State Park with its pristine, undeveloped beach and wildlife preserve. Relax in our tropical backyard oasis by one of our wood or gas burning fire pits. BBQ grills, laundry, outdoor showers, and everything you need for the beach is provided. Pack your bags and head to the Piping Plover nest.

The property has been beautifully updated in 2025 featuring a newly renovated kitchen, bathroom, new furnishings, and luxury details. Each cottage is two bedroom, one bath. A thoughtfully appointed kitchen, dining table, living room with queen-sized sleeper sofa, one king bedroom, and one queen bedroom are among the comforts offered. Savor your morning beverage or evening cocktail on your private screened-in lanai or enjoy our backyard tropical oasis featuring gas and wood burning fire pits. The unit offers other conveniences such as: contactless, private entry, microwave, range, Keurig coffee maker, refrigerator. Free Wi-Fi. A cable connected 55” Smart TV in the living room and 40” TV’s in each bedroom to view shows using your favorite streaming apps. Other shared amenities include an on-site laundry, bbq grill area, and kayaks for your use.

We provide beach carts, chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, everything you need to get the most out of your day at the beach, just a short 3 minute walk. Grab one of our beach cruiser bicycles (adult-sized) to explore the key and find a place to watch one of our gorgeous sunsets. Paddle around Lemon Bay in one of our kayaks, or a Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) offered with your stay. Spend the day fishing at the local pier or enjoy shark tooth and shell collecting on our beautiful beach. For a real treat, keep an eye out for dolphins, manatees and perhaps a sea turtle hatchling making their way to the sea! Conveniently close are our island restaurants, ready to satisfy your culinary cravings. Take our island shuttle so that you can dance the night away to live music at some of our neighborhood establishments. Manasota Key has boat and jet ski rentals, and parasailing as well. This cottage is the front unit of a very quiet duplex shared by our other unit the Oystercatcher. Our property has a second building for a total of four units. Building two has the White Pelican and the Laughing Gull. Maximum capacity is six persons including children.

Wonderful property, amazing location!

We recently had a family gathering at Manasota Key, Shorebird was beyond perfect for our group of 17. The accommodations were perfect, everything was clean and the property was well equipped with beach items, boogie boards, shark tooth searching tools, umbrellas, chairs, bikes, kayaks, etc. Jen and Eddie made us feel so welcomed! We loved that there were plenty of kitchen items to prepare meals, that was very handy especially feeding 17 people! We loved using the BBQ area each night and between the patio and enclosed patio we had plenty of room for everyone to find a spot. We all utilized the outdoor showers, and loved the shower that had its own private area, with shampoo and conditioner. It was also an added luxury to have washer and dryer access, so handy, again Jen and Eddie went above and beyond and had detergent available. The location exceeded all expectations, it was such a quick walk to the beach, we went back and forth many times a day. The kids loved boogie boarding each night as the sunset, such a fun experience for them in the warm waters of the Gulf. So many added touches that really helped make us feel at home, and so many thing’s available in the kitchen that were so helpful for our stay. We came from California, so having all those small things like lunch baggies and foil was amazing. Thank you so much Jen and Eddie! Loved your home and all the great things you have done to make it feel so welcoming and comfortable!

Five Stars!!

We were very impressed with the cottage. Nicely furnished and spotless. We were greeted with snacks, wine, beer and water bottles. My granddaughter and I kayaked on Lemon Bay had two different dolphin pods come up to and under our kayaks it was amazing!!! This definitely our go to spot on Manasota Key!!

Great Stay

Very nice, clean spot that was great for our family. Bikes and Kayaks were great and the beach cart, toys, and chairs were a hit. Also really appreciate the Beer, wine, snacks and coffee waiting for us on arrival. Great hosts and great place to stay and visit Manasota Key!

They’ve thought of everything!

Best online vacation rental I’ve ever stayed at. They have literally thought of every need you have! Snacks and goodies when you arrive, beach cart and storage chest stocked with all things beach, every appliance you might need, spices, air purifier, smart tvs in every room, usb outlets next to bed, dust buster for quick cleaning, kayaks, SUPs and fire pits. Well done! You have set the bar high for the next rental and will be coming back soon! Also manakey is a hidden gem in SWFL. Thanks so much!

Manasota Key Labor Day 22

Stayed here for long weekend with wife 2 boys and mother in law. Property was in excellent condition and my wife and I were surprised at all of the amenities. There were bikes, coolers, nice beach chairs, snacks and many other items that you don’t often see at rentals. The property was very clean and quiet and made for a great weekend.

Great Cottage!

The cottage was as promised and more! The property is lovely and has everything you need. The location is easy to find, but the walk to the beach may be too much for people with mobility issues. All the amenities you need are there, and they leave you a little welcome package for your arrival with some snacks. Manasota key is delightful and this cottage fits right in!

Relaxing Mini-Vacation

This is a very comfortable, clean, well-appointed “cottage” - we loved every minute of our stay at this wonderful rental! As Floridians, it was our first trip to Manasota Key and a too-short getaway (only 2 nights) - we wish we could have stayed longer! Our host Jen was very responsive and answered emails within minutes. The check-in process was very smooth and the Piping Plover was equipped with absolutely everything we needed. It was the perfect getaway!

Lovely area, lovely property

We decided on Manasota Key because we were told it was quaint, laid back, peaceful, and has that “old” Florida vibe. It was all that and more. The beach at Stump Pass was heaven. Looking forward to a future stay.

Amazing!!!

The rental was so clean and comfortable and decorated perfectly. Jenn and Eddie have thought of everything! They were attentive and helpful. The property was beautiful and we enjoyed connecting with other renters around the fire. The bikes were really nice to have as well. We fell in love with Manasota Key and will absolutely be back!

Perfect!

Everything is exactly as described and pictured. Minutes from the beach and extremely clean and stocked with anything you might need. Not overly decorated so you can enjoy the cleanliness - tastefully done. Hosts are so responsive and accommodating. Returning again and again as we have family in the area. You definitely won’t be disappointed with this property or the hosts.

Wonderful Beach Vacation Spot!

We stayed for 4 nights and loved every minute! We walked the short distance to the beach access area daily and relaxed on the beach while the kids played in the surf, found sharks teeth, shells, and then had a comfy and very clean place to return to at the end of the day. The cottage was updated and has been newly renovated. Everything was beautiful and clean, and it had everything we needed for a great trip. We will definitely be coming back!

Magical Memories Made

Lovely experience staying at one of Jen and Eddie's cotteges with my now fiance! He proposed on the beach during our stay which was magical! The house was stunningly clean, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed to enjoy our engagement. I hope to visit again for a future anniversary!

We loved our stay! The size was perfect for our family of 4. All the items included with the property were great. We usually load up the car with beach stuff, but we didn't have to worry about any of that here. Location was close to the beach and restaurants.

This property has everything you could need.

When we travel to the beach we look for a property that has chairs and a cooler and possibly a few other helpful items to make our stay easier and less expensive. This place has everything!!! Chairs, umbrella, beach wagon, toys, boogie boards, skim boards, paddle boards, kayaks and the best part …. Beach cruisers. Enough for the whole family. The beds were very comfortable, we slept great! It was so nice to come ‘home’ at night, wash off all our gear and sit out by the fire. Truly a wonderful property in a perfect little beach haven. Best 2 weeks of our summer.
