We stayed at the Eyre Square Hotel for 3 nights while visiting Galway. The lobby, bar, restaurant are all beautiful and updated. Our room I don't think has been updated in many many years. However, it was fine for our trip and the location I'm sure is what drove the price we paid which came out to be about $260 each night. The location was fantastic as it was close (right next door) to the train station, nearby to pubs, restaurants and central Eyre Square all just steps away.
Staff we came across were all very nice and very helpful. We were able to check in a little early but not much. Not a big deal, we dropped our bags off and headed to lunch and a nearby pub until our room was ready. Our room was on the top floor and it overlooked the train station. We did have a view of the water though looking past the station which I really liked. The fan in our room was broken but replaced within minutes of arriving. The room had two beds, one double and one twin bed which worked fine for us and was as we expected. I think for the price this would be a great room if the room had been renovated (carpet and beds replaced). Everything was clean but worn.
There is a market across the street for a cheap coffee. We had breakfast in the hotel one morning and it was just okay.
