“Always stay here when visiting Dumfries, the staff are amazing, always willing to please. Food is always good ,rooms are very clean and comfortable. Breakfast has everything you would want . Lovely lounge to sit when there is a group of you. I always meet family there for drinks and we sit through the back in the lounge. Grounds are gorgeous and have a couple of different cafes to eat at.”

“Unfortunately another disappointing night at the Inn. Went for a meal, again staffing issues with chefs resulting in quite a few things not being available. I thought there was a wedding function going on as every now and then loud music would blast through the restaurant area but it was just the music coming from the kitchen area as the doors swung open and closed. Sadly in need of a makeover.”

“After a communications issue I got the code and enjoyed our sunny happy space. Had a couple suggestions for owner who responded quickly. Frustrated with VRBO/Expedia for shirking responsibilities for fees and chose to blame owner. Poor customer service from the company but owner’s efficiency more than compensated for their failure.”

“A very nice little hotel with tidy clean room with lots of little touches such as coffees, teas biscuits etc. Excellent evening meal at reasonable cost. Good breakfast with good choice. Friendly service and nice decor in dining room. Good location just off the A75 road.”

“What a great little place! The staff were super friendly, rooms were clean and as advertised, food was good and as a solo female traveller I felt very safe. I stayed here for a few days while attending a wedding a nearby GG Yards, and even booked to stay on for an extra night. Gatehouse of Fleet & The Ship Inn had a really nice chilled vibe, plenty of things to do locally, and a lovely spot for exploring this part of Scotland.”
