SNAKES! Now that I have your attention, yes, on our third night there was a healthy, three-foot long copperhead curled up on the warm parking pavement behind the hotel. Now in fairness, this is NOT the hotel's fault, and they lose no points for it. Stephenville is indigenous to all four of North America's poisonous snakes, and the brushy area behind the hotel is exactly the sort of spot where they like to hang out. You just need to be aware...
On things that do count, this is probably the best hotel in Stephenville, I'm sad to say... The rooms are small, with a decor I can only describe as Early Dormitory. The breakfast was cold, and the watery oatmeal was one of the saddest dishes I've ever seen on a hotel buffet. Parking is free, but can be limited because construction crews staying in the hotel park their large trucks everywhere.
And you get all this at the same price you'd pay for a nicer Hampton Inn room in Dallas. But as I say, this is probably the best hotel in Stephenville, and with no competition, you take what you can get...
