“Great B&B! Owner had prompt communication and provided several helpful tips. Loved having an our own private Hale which was outfitted with all the essentials including comfortable King bed. Kitchenette had mini-fridge with freezer. toaster-oven & microwave, coffee & tea in the room plus custom ordered breakfast (egg sandwich, omelette, or waffles) that came with a delicious papaya fruit bowl delivered to the room. “Pros: This is our first time staying at a lodge like this, so close to nature, just like camping. You will hear coqui frog whole night & seeing them jumping next to your door step. Animals free roaming, peacocks, ducks, chicken. Kids loved it. Cons: There is barely any light at night in the Property…so if you come back late, it’s a bit challenging to find your cabin.”

“Chris was my host and he has a nice comfortable place. It was like hanging out with a friend. Everything was clean and the house rules were explained and easily understood. Very economical.”

“Outside shower was pleasant experience once I got used to idea! Walk to lava beach on property was extraordinary experience. Breakfast Food was excellent. Hosts were generous, kind and thoughtful. Lack of central air was disappointing but numerous fans helped a lot and open screened windows let breezes in. Still humid though. Loud Background noise of night critters was not a problem. Actually soothing and comforting after a day of traveling. ”

“Beautifully maintained. The frogs were a bit annoying but the staff went out of their way to make us comfortable. The outdoor shower and hot bath were amazing . ”

“No frills bed and breakfast. This is the type of place that you book for serenity and for the quiet atmosphere which was perfect for our trip. It is worth noting that you need to make arrangements to get your access code ahead of time if you think you will have delays in your travel. However this process was easy to do. The property is close to volcano national park and also has an enjoyable rainforest environment as well. ”

“What a great place! Gorgeous view every day you stepped outside, great bedroom space with comfortable beds, and a spacious bathroom. Erich and Suzy were super kind and helpful with recommendations for things to do and places to go. The pool was fantastic and breakfast was delicious. Definitely a place that warrants a return visit. ”

“Our first time in Hawai’i, and this place was one of the highlights of our trip. Surrounded by lush forest and secluded, it was the perfect getaway. The central location on the island allows for east access to everywhere. We will definitely be talking about/recommending the volcano mist cottage to others. ”

“This was our first time staying at this property and loved it. The view was spectacular. Such a peaceful location just a few miles from downtown. I was a little nervous about there being no AC but it was not a problem at all despite the high temps during the day. The only downside was someone parking in our spot. The situation was eventually remedied. Definitely recommended. Will see if this place is available next time we visit Hilo.”

“Loved staying in this room. View to the ocean was spectacular. They would stock the fridge with fruits and yogurt for breakfast every day. Room has no AC and bathroom gets Hot but no big deal. Bed was super comfortable. There’s quite an amount of stairs to reach the roo. ”
