We have been going to Hilton Head Island for the past 18 years and stayed at various resorts. This was our first time at the Spa at Port Royal. The unit was phenomenal! All marble showers, updated kitchen, nice furniture- absolutely beautiful! Room for improvement- the coffee maker uses k-cups. I think the old fashioned coffee makers with a pot are more convenient. I had to keep my mug right under the spout or I would get all splattered. Another thing - the towels. Coming out from that gorgeous shower only to dry up with what it feels like sandpaper- not great! There were plenty towels, but very thin and raspy. One use and they would be wet! Good thing we had washer and dryer in the unit to wash the towels and re-use them. The neighborhood- I couldn’t quite figure it out; it doesn’t have a front office, just a Homeowners Association office! Also, right at the gate there is a list of things you are NOT allowed to do and the fines that come with breaking the rules! We did not receive a welcome package, like at most resorts, and had to ask for the location of the unit. All in all, we felt mostly tolerated, not welcomed! They definitely need to work on their hospitality skills! There were also a gazillion of tiny flies that bit us mercilessly-I am not sure if they are seasonal or a constant presence. We definitely appreciated the patio with mesh screens !
