As an avid traveler and former Flight Attendant, I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels and this by far was one of the worst experiences. I booked this hotel due to a last-minute decision to fly into Houston to surprise my college student daughter for her birthday. As soon as I pulled up in the driveway, I knew something was wrong. It looked old and ran down from the outside. And once I walked inside, it looked even worse. It looked nothing like the pictures online so the pictures are either very old or they were AI. The hotel attendant at the front desk needs a new job. Customer service is not her forte. She didn’t speak. I actually spoke to her and said hi. How are you doing? While she just gave me this dry hello barely looking at me through the Braids covering her eyes. I wasn’t trying to carry on a conversation, but if you’re at the front desk of a hotel, regular politeness is expected. Unfortunately, this generation lacks a lot of social skills and cues. The lobby is very dark and dreary, and maybe that affected her, but I doubt it. She proceeds to tell me after I swipe my card that she did not have the room I reserved. So I asked her what what kind of room did you put me in? Without ever looking up at me, she says a double. I said OK is that a double queen? At which point she got frustrated, shrugged her shoulders, and said, “I don’t know a double”. I then politely cancelled the room and went to the Holiday Inn Express where the attendant was polite and the stay was great.
