“We've always thought of the Gateway as the crown jewel of hotels in Ames. This visit had several disappointments. No daily housekeeping without asking, however we were not informed of that. So we waited for restocked coffee and condiments, clean towels, clean trash receptacles and tissue. Also our bathroom faucet was loose and flopped back and forth when turning on and off. Finally reached out to the manager and was informed about no daily housekeeping. They did come and restock most items but...

“The room was filthy. Couch was full of pet hair and black with stains. Bathtub bottom was black.”

“Breakfast was awful. Limited selection. No honey. Eggs were very overcooked. Rooms are very dated. Soundproofing is awful and we had very loud room next to us. TIL past midnight. Free bottled water was great. Parking is great. Hotel needs a makeover”

“This is a nice facility. It is not cleaned well at all. Needs to have much better vacuuming. Made our stay not so pleasant. Ketchup on the wall by the cooktop. Cooktop was very dirty, gross. I would not stay here again. All due to the fact they don't clean stuff.”

“We ate at the bar top and the hamburger was cooked exactly like we wanted it. The check in was super-fast and the bartender was great. She was so friendly and knowledgeable of the area.”
