Set within 20 acres of vineyards and centuries-old olive groves, just 12 km (8 miles) south of Florence, La Quercia is a 17th-century country house that has belonged to our family since 1967.

It was in that year that my grandfather, Francesco Clemente, an abstract painter and visionary, discovered La Quercia abandoned in the countryside. Where others might have seen a forgotten old house, he saw beauty, possibility and a place to create. He brought La Quercia back to life, making it his family home and artist's retreat, and laying the foundations for the place it is today.

Carefully preserved and restored over the years, the villa retains the soul and character of a traditional Tuscan home while offering the comfort, privacy and understated elegance of a contemporary country retreat. Original terracotta floors and ceilings, exposed wooden beams, stone walls and a large open fireplace tell the story of the house, while the interiors feel warm, relaxed and deeply connected to the surrounding landscape.

La Quercia Estate is a destination in itself — a place to slow down, gather around the table, spend long afternoons by the pool and experience the rhythms and flavors of Tuscan life.

THE BEDROOMS

La Quercia accommodates up to eight guests across four elegantly appointed, air-conditioned bedrooms, each with a private en-suite bathroom.

Ground Floor

• One twin/queen bedroom with en-suite bathroom and walk-in shower.
• Independent access and only a few steps make this room convenient for guests who prefer to avoid the main staircase.

Second Floor

• Master king bedroom with walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom with bathtub and separate shower.
• Two twin/queen bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom with bathtub, shower screen and wall-mounted rain shower.

Three bedrooms can be prepared either as twins or joined as a double, allowing the house to be comfortably arranged for families or groups of friends.

LIVING SPACES

At the heart of the house is a spacious, welcoming living room with a traditional working fireplace, designed for quiet mornings and evenings spent together.

The formal dining room retains its beautiful antique terracotta ceiling and leads directly into the fully equipped kitchen, creating a natural flow between cooking, dining and gathering.

The interiors intentionally preserve the feeling of a family country home rather than a hotel: elegant yet relaxed, personal rather than formal, and filled with the character of a house lived in and loved for generations.

THE GARDENS & ESTATE

Life at La Quercia Estate naturally moves outdoors.

The villa opens onto a covered loggia with a generous dining table and comfortable lounge area overlooking the Tuscan countryside — a favorite setting for long breakfasts, aperitivo and dinners outdoors.

The private manicured gardens offer several intimate areas in which to pause and unwind. A pathway leads to the magnificent centuries-old oak tree from which La Quercia takes its name. Beneath its canopy, a terrace overlooks the organic-shaped private saltwater swimming pool. Beside the pool, a furnished gazebo provides a shaded outdoor lounge.

Beyond the garden stretch approximately 20 acres of our family's land, planted with around 600 olive trees and vineyards, from which we produce our own extra virgin olive oil and estate wines.

The result is a setting that feels wonderfully private and immersed in nature, despite being remarkably close to Florence.

THE LA QUERCIA EXPERIENCE

What makes La Quercia special to us is not simply the house itself, but the life that surrounds it — and much of that life has always revolved around food and the table.

At the heart of the estate is our boutique cooking studio, where our signature mother-and-daughter culinary experiences are hosted by Veronica and Margherita. These intimate, hands-on experiences are rooted in the way we genuinely cook and eat as a family: seasonal, generous and uncomplicated, with recipes and traditions passed down and shared around the table.

The experience begins in our vegetable garden, gathering tomatoes, zucchini, herbs and other ingredients for the dishes we prepare together. Our own extra virgin olive oil, produced from the olive groves surrounding the house, connects what we cook directly to the land around us.

Rather than a formal cooking lesson, the experience is intended to feel like being welcomed into a Tuscan family kitchen — cooking side by side, learning through stories and gestures, and eventually sitting down together to enjoy what has been prepared.

Beyond our cooking studio, we can arrange private experiences inspired by the food, landscape and traditions of our region, including in-villa dinners, local market visits, wine and olive oil experiences, and encounters with local winemakers, artisans and producers.

Everything is intended to allow guests to discover Tuscany at a gentler pace, through the people, flavors and traditions that are part of our own life here.

LOCATION

La Quercia Estate enjoys an unusual combination of countryside privacy and proximity to Florence.

The historic center of Florence is approximately 12 km (8 miles) away and generally around 20 minutes by car, while the village of Impruneta is approximately one mile from the estate.

Impruneta offers grocery stores, cafés, restaurants and local shops, and La Quercia is an ideal base for exploring Florence, Chianti and many of Tuscany's most beloved towns and landscapes.

A car is recommended for guests wishing to explore independently. Alternatively, private transfers and chauffeur services can be arranged.

A FAMILY HOME

La Quercia Estate has been part of our family since 1967 and remains first and foremost a family home.

We personally care for the estate and our guests' experience. Our aim is to offer the privacy and freedom of having a Tuscan home to yourselves, together with the warmth and personal attention of a family-run property.

The owners live on the estate in separate private quarters and are available when assistance is needed, while always respecting guests' privacy and independence.

UTILITIES & ADDITIONAL CHARGES

Electricity

An allowance of 25 kWh per day is included. Consumption exceeding the allowance is charged at €0.50 per kWh.

Meter readings are taken at check-in and check-out.

As part of our approach to responsible hospitality and to help keep energy consumption to a minimum, we kindly ask guests to switch off lights and air conditioning when leaving the house.

Winter heating

From approximately mid-November through the end of March, heating is charged separately at €15 per hour. Around eight hours per day is generally sufficient to keep the villa warm, although usage can be adjusted according to guests' preferences and weather conditions.

Tourist tax

The local tourist tax is €4 per person, per night.

Security deposit

A € 2,000 security deposit is required at check-in by credit-card pre-authorization.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW

La Quercia is a private family estate, and we take great care in protecting the house, our guests and the atmosphere of the property.

For insurance, liability and property-management reasons, outside service providers arranged independently by guests are not permitted to enter or provide services on the estate. This includes private chefs, caterers, massage therapists, photographers, event professionals and other third-party vendors, including services booked through Airbnb or other platforms.

All in-villa services and experiences must be arranged directly through La Quercia Estate and are provided by our trusted network of professionals and collaborators.

Parties and events are not permitted unless expressly agreed with us in advance. Intimate celebrations and boutique weddings may be considered on request, with a maximum capacity of 25 guests and a separate event fee.
