“really enjoyed my stay at the hotel”

“Upon checking in, we found the hotel undergoing a co.plete renovation. Most of the main lobby closed off and the bar moved to the restaurant. The elevators were also being renovated and taken out of service 1 or 2 at a time out of the 3. I would have expected Expedia to have some type of construction notice when booking. I always stay at the Southbank when in Jacksonville, but this had to be the most disappointing visit EVER!!! Call the hotel beforehand to confirm status of renovation to avoid...

“The breakfast was amazing. The girl working the dining room was the most professional person we’ve had on a vacation. Walking distance to everything you need.”

“Staff was great. This JW Marriott was disappointing compared to all the others I have stayed, it’s old and the walls are like paper. Sounded like people in next room were in ours! Restaurant seemed under staffed, again the staff was very kind. Building front area is around construction area. The hotel needs a remodel, old carpet in restaurant, old woodwork, needs a facelift or remove “JW”. Staff was amazing!”

“Room 163: the door does not lock. The toilet paper holder is dangling from the wall, which has small divots dug out of it. There is a bit of discoloration around the tub. The staff willingly gave us another room. Inside door latches/chains have been removed and painted over. The room interiors are dimly lit, with walls painted battleship gray except where they've been scarred or patched. Cleanliness is fine. The interior courtyard rooms are surprisingly quiet. “This was our first time here, location is very conveniently close to shopping, restaurants and even the carnival port for cruisers. We stayed the night before our cruise for May16. Check in/out was east ave quick. I don’t remember the guys name who checked us in but he has great customer service.
