Inside, the home is bright, stylish, and designed for connection and creativity. A stunning chef’s kitchen invites you to slow down and savour the experience—spend your days reading, relaxing, or exploring, then gather in the evening to cook, dine, and unwind. For music lovers, writers and creatives, a keyboard and guitars add a special touch—perfect for quiet inspiration, songwriting, or simply enjoying the moment.
Step outside to fully embrace country living. Sip your morning coffee on the balcony overlooking the fields with the goats and neighbouring cows grazing next door, lounge on the sun deck, or gather around the fire pit under a canopy of stars. The large picnic table under the tree is just waiting for afternoon tea parties and games in the yard. The cottage is pet-friendly and fully fenced but please keep in mind, there are animals right along the fence so you'll want to make sure your precious fur baby won't be upset by the bigger fluffy visitors. We really can't say enough about how adorable and hilarious these kids are to watch! The surrounding area offers easy access to swimming spots with a public boat launch just down the road, making it simple to get out on the water.
Whether you’re planning a girls’ weekend, couples retreat, book club getaway, or a peaceful escape for rest and reconnection, this farmhouse offers the ideal setting.
Please note - given the unique experience at Talu Farmhouse, the cottage owners have two surveillance cameras in place to monitor the goats and cows, ensuring the gates are secure for their safety. They will not be monitored 24/day while you enjoy the property but are present. One is located on the exterior shed by the black goat field gate (locked). The second is located in the kitchen bay window and faces the front entry and cow field gates. The owners are very excited to share their beloved hobby farm with you and want to ensure you are aware of these two cameras on the property used to ensure the goats and cows are securely in their fields.

Pets are welcome There is no microwave at this cottage Please note that, according to the municipality’s bylaws, all dogs must be leashed or tethered on the property when outside. Property had an electric fence surround for the goats and cows. Dogs will be able to see the animals through the fences and are not permitted to roam leash-free into the fields. **Please note Kawartha Lakes, implements a month long burn ban every April - campfires are not permitted in April** Smoking or vaping of any substance is not permitted anywhere on the property There are two fence facing cameras on the property. 1 on the shed facing the black goat field gate and 1 in kitchen bay window facing front entry and cow field gate. Linens are provided – please bring your own outdoor towels The fireplace is not available for guest use between May and October This cottage is in the Kawartha Lakes; Licence #STR2026-213. The Municipal STR Licence restricts the cottage to maximum 4 people at any given time during your stay. The Municipality requires rental guests sign a Rental Guest Code of Conduct. It will be sent to you upon booking for electronic signature. Post departure cleaning is arranged immediately following your check out time. Please ensure the short pre-departure cleaning checklist is completed and you have fully checked out of the cottage by your departure time to avoid any additional cleaning fees. Boat Launch. Although the cottage is not directly on the lake, a boat launch is just a few minutes away and it can be used for swimming too! (5 mins) Western Trent Golf Club. Challenging 3100 yard, 9-hole public golf course along the shores of Canal Lake, including a Pro Shop, Driving Range, Licensed Patio with BBQ Grill, Docking on the Trent Canal, and beautiful views and facilities. (10 mins) Trent Severn Waterway Lock 41. Lock 41 is the gateway to the beautiful and historic Talbot River section of the Trent-Severn Waterway. It is the first of five manual locks in an eight-kilometre stretch that rises to overcome a total lift of 22.2 metres (72.7 ft). (15 mins) Cameron Ranch Walking Trail. Hiking trail of 2.5 km linear trail, moderate difficulty, with boardwalks and natural surfaces. (5 mins) Gamebridge Go-Karts. Featuring a thrilling combination of acceleration, braking and passing zones, the 8-meter wide outdoor track is an awesome way for anyone with an enthusiasm for speed to have a blast! Great for both kids and adults, the karts are easy to operate, so no experience necessary! (20 mins)
