Kihei is a great area and Sugar Beach leaves you in a really good location for venturing around the island: south Kihei/Wailea, the west side, Ma’alaea, Wailuku/Kahului, the north shore- all easily traveled to from this area. The location is also great for whale watching in the winter months. Pool and common areas were nice, and do check out SBBS and their malasadas just down the road.A few things about this rental- not a huge fan of the paltry amount of toilet paper and toiletries in general. “Starter pack” is silly and kinda greedy, even if it’s become more prevalent with these rentals. Also, as somebody else mentioned, the view is partially obstructed due to a fairly unnecessary large planting right in front of the unit (not shown in the listing). Finally, describing this unit as “beautifully upgraded” is diabolical. It is older and a bit tired, too few electrical outlets, walls were dirty, appliances super old with the ice maker in the freezer not functional. It was a totally adequate unit and hit the right notes for location and ease of use, and was pretty fairly priced. But in hindsight I find the listing to be somewhat dishonest. Not saying we wouldn’t stay there again, but be warned.
