Killhope Lead Mining Museum: Tour e Visite Guidate

Comfortable bed, quite room. If you have a room on the top floor the stairs are very steep.

Booked to stay here as attending friends wedding nearby. The grounds are lovely, plenty of car parking - although the roads are littered with pot holes - so drivers of lower cars beware! Check in was quick and the girls in reception could not have been better, allowing us early access to spa facilities Spa itself is nice, but a little tired - it has all you need for a pleasant afternoon. There were several large groups of ladies on spa days and men who were extremely loud and very drunk. Paid for an upgraded room which was spacious and had superb views over the golf course….however the room itself was dirty which really took the edge off for us. There were large clumps of long hairs on both chairs and the floor as well as dusty areas throughout. Unfortunately this really made us not want to use the room facilities to full advantage so the extra paid was for nothing. Next morning breakfast service was chaos. We had to queue for 10 minutes with others to get into the restaurant although there were plenty of empty tables they simply didn’t have the staff to clear them. The buffet was empty in many areas - had to wait 15 minutes for toast and only 2 coffee machines were operating with the others being out of order. The food quality itself wasn’t fantastic either. The hotels open spaces and small rooms are quirky and characterful and the staff are extremely pleasant! Overall Slaley Hall could be fantastic but several things let it down. In a word - disappointing!
