This holiday home has intentionally been set up as a very comfortable family home and many have expressed their delight at it being so well equipped, comfortable and not like a basic Bach! However we are very clear in the House Rules that guests must bring their own bed linen etc as we do not live nearby to provide a linen change service and also we do not provide perishable items (milk bread etc). I am wondering what you meant when you titled your review “ Lot more can be done”. Please explain further as I would greatly appreciate know what you were actually referring to. I am pleased you had great weather to go to National Park, leaving nice and early on the Sunday.

Thank you for taking the time to write tour review. We are pleased you found the house well located and close to all that Kinloch offers. I was very disappointed to read your extensive comment about the need to provide your own bed linen etc. We do not live locally and although we have an excellent local lady who ensures the house always thoroughly cleaned between guests and the grounds are tidy etc, it is not feasible for her to manage the towel and bed linen supply, bed changes and the laundering. Therefore, for the last 6 years we have always made it very clear in the listing, house rules and all correspondence about the booking, that guests need to supply their own bed linen, towels etc. This is common in many NZ holiday homes, and to date all guests have been very accepting of this. I am sorry if you did not understand this at the time of securing the booking for your large family gathering. I am pleased though that overall you found the accommodation suitable to your groups needs.

Thanks for your feedback. The standard check in time is 3 pm in order to give the cleaner time to do her magic if there has been a group leaving that morning. However we are happy for guests to check in earlier if it is possible and when guests express a desire. It’s a shame you did not ask and we were not aware of where you were traveling from. I am pLeased you found the house excellent. However it was disappointing you departed and left lights on, windows open, bedding on the floor and food in the fridge and wet towels on the washing machine I assume you must have left in a hurry and did not do a final check. Thankfully our cleaner was coming in the same day.

Thank you for your review. I was surprised with your comment re “roll together” in the long double bed. No one else has mentioned this and family members have said it is comfortable. We stayed at the house just after your stay. It was the first time we had been there since the onset of cooler weather. I have now changed the lighter duvet for a heavier wool filled one, which was in the shelf in the wardrobe. There always have been spare good quality woolen blankets in the twin bedroom wardrobe. I am sorry you did not see these. I would love to have you stay again. Thank you.
