Escape to the southernmost point of Kauai at Makahuena 5101, an oceanfront condo perched on a bluff with breathtaking coastal views. This 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom ground-floor condo offers a full kitchen, spacious lanai, and split A/C throughout for your comfort.

The primary bedroom features a king-sized bed and ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower. The second bedroom has two twin beds, which can be converted to a king bed upon request, with a full guest bathroom. Please note: A layered pathway with stairs leads from the parking lot to the condo entrance.

Relax on your private lanai, enjoy the resort's tennis courts, pool, hot tub, and BBQ area, or take a short walk to nearby beaches, restaurants, and the Grand Hyatt.

The view is amazing (though the table and chairs are clearly photoshopped to look a little nicer). Perfect place to watch the sun set.That aside, the amenities are rather modest. Cozy but certainly not modern. The A/C didn't work in one of the bedrooms, which was rather unfortunate because A/C typically costs a premium and no partial refund was offered. The cable TV also wasn't working throughout the stay (live TV only. Netflix worked). These two were known issues which we were informed of at check-in, but was not warned of prior to arrival.We WERE informed of ongoing construction, oddly right after cancellation period passed. This did not affect us at all as we were out all day during the several days that we were there, but if you were planning on relaxing at the accommodation during the day, this may affect you more.Other notes: electric stove. tide pods provided. loud washer/dryer. pool/jacuzzi very family friendly but can be a little loud.Overall we just needed a place to crash at night, with the added benefit of waking up to the sound of waves and being able to eat dinner at our accommodation while watching the sun set. For that it was great. But if you're looking for a modern accommodation with more modern amenities, I would consider other options, but if you are more like us, this accommodation will more than suffice (with the exception of the a/c being broken).

Views were amazing, close to the beach, pool (kids requirement of course). Everything was smooth in the stay from check in to check out. Would definitely come back. Not only that but the views were awesome. We say more than our share of turtles floating in the tides, a pod of 6 dolphins jumping by and a couple of whales out ont he horizon splashing as they surfaced. Overall, stay was exactly what we hoped for.

Beautiful condo with oceanfront lanai… We had 4 adults and plenty of room for all.Very close to Poipu proper - a short 15-min walk down the hill or easy car ride, 5 min.Nice pool on lovely property, quiet! We watched sunrise and sunset from lanai and saw turtles and dolphins up close in water below our lanai, whales a bit further out - every day! Thanks for a lovely stay on this stunning island!!!

Check in was so easy. Everything we needed was in the kitchen. We had plenty of towels. There was even detergent for the washer. Very impressed !

This place was amazing! Probably one of the best views on the island. Right on the water. We could hear the waves crashing all day and night. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. The place had everything that we needed for our 4 night stay. We would definitely consider staying here again if we ever return to the island.

Makahuena building 5 has a great location. You are overlooking beautiful Southwest sky/ocean with really beautiful sunsets. Waves crash on rocks which also has a spouting hole. We really had a very enjoyable and unforgettable stay. The property is well stocked, matches description and the hosts communicate well. We would stay again. The property is well-maintained, but there is some room for improvement. The parking is a bit further from parking, which is something one might want ti consider if traveling with checked in bags.

Views, views, views!

Aloha,Well maintained and great management. The best part though, was the lanai. We saw rainbows, sunsets, whales, spinner dolphins, turtles, and birds. If it wasn't such a beautiful island, you would want to just stay at the condo.

An incredible view

The view from the lanai can't be beat. We saw tons of wildlife while sitting having coffee in the morning.The space was great, plenty of room for everyone. The beds were very comfortable!

My family stayed here, it was such a cute unit. The lanai was so beautiful to sit outside on. We saw soooo many turtles at all times of the day! The kids loved it. The waves were gorgeous. The unit was clean upon arrival and very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again!

Great Location and Wonderful View!

We loved Kauai and everything there is to explore on such a beautiful island! The location of the condo is great and we enjoyed the spectacular view from the patio. Pros- The condo is located an easy distance to everything you would want to do on the South Shore, beaches, restaurants, shops and activities. There are chairs, umbrellas, snorkels and masks and boogie boards that make your beach trips easy and comfortable. You can walk to many beaches and restaurants. The check-in was smooth, we arrived 30 min early and we able to get right in. The instructions and relevant information was easily accessible. The kitchen had everything you would need for meals at home. Cons- When we arrived we were excited to go out to the patio and enjoy the view, what we didn't expect was to find all the tables and chairs filthy. There was so much dirt that we spent the next hour cleaning so we could sit down. I understand that the winds tends to blow red dirt everywhere I would however, expect that everything would be clean to start our stay. As requested we took off our shoes when we came in the condo, in a short time our socks were covered in dirt. It didn't seem that housekeeping had cleaned/mopped the floor before our stay. We found the vacuum and did our best to clean up. The most difficult thing we encountered was the noise from the bedroom and living room air conditioners. It was so loud that we had to turn them off at night. The condo is nice but ready for an update in most rooms.

Great view!

Best unit in the complex for viewing sunset. Comfortable and good a/c. A/C unit in the living room is loud and annoying at times, but there overall a great stay. Plenty of beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, boogie boards, and even some snorkeling equipment for fantastic beach days.

Location, Location, Location!

Fantastic location and amazing views right from the lanai. Saw turtles everyday from our lanai and one day we saw stingray. Sunsets are incredible just sitting our lanai with drink in hand. Short walk to Poipu beach and trail near condo was easy to access and great for morning run/walks along the water. Owner also had condo well stocked in kitchen and plenty of supplies. Spacious bathrooms and very comfortable master bed. Definitely recommend and will stay again on any future trips to Kauai. Thank you!

Spectacular view…Condo not so much

The view is absolutely beautiful but the condo is in need of some much needed TLC/ updates…very musty smelling upon entering, kitchen & bathrooms have horrible florescent lighting (kitchen light didn’t work at all, making it very dark) flooring is dingy looking, AC wasn’t working in the primary bedroom, rubber seal on shower door was coming off and the lanai was extremely dirty and had broken tiles, I also found it really weird that there were personal pictures of the family on the shelves, just my opinion that if you really want to make the unit feel welcoming, take them down while it’s rented out (we turned them around). I did contact the property management to let her know of a couple of concerns and while we were gone and without notifying us, they entered the unit, I’m not sure how short term rentals work but as long term property owners, we have to give our tenants 24 hour notice before entering...just an FYI

Fantastic Stay!

The four of us stayed at this condo for 6 nights. We loved the huge porch - the views of the sunrise and sunset were incredible. The layout of the condo is wonderful for privacy with the bathrooms next to each other and the bedrooms next to the bathrooms. The kitchen could be a bit better equipped but when we asked if there was a coffee grinder (there was not), one showed up on our doorstep, which was wonderful because we wanted to enjoy the freshly ground coffee from Hawaii. Overall, a really spacious unit with wonderful views of the water (saw whales and turtles). We had a very nice stay!

Location, but shows its age

We stayed over the new year holiday and while the location of the property was great the unit is showing its age in many locations. The chairs outside by the table are old and paint is falling off. There is very little places to sit on patio which is the best part of the unit and huge. We had to find the 4th chair that was hidden under the stairs. The labels for the switches have faded away so they are hard to read. The showers both seem to be in need of new doors and a deep clean. The bedding and rug did not match the pictures. The plantation shutters are mostly broken. Overall the location is excellent and watching the sunset and the waves crash on the rocks tried to make up for the condition of the unit. Overall would not stay again especially for the price.

Spectacular Seaside Condo

Host gracious & communicates well. Condo clean & comfortable with plenty of paper products for our stay. The view of the ocean off the balcony was spectacular. Wouldnt miss those sunsets! We would definitely stay there again.

Amazing & Stunning Poipu

We absolutely loved our stay in Kauai. It was our first time on the island and our first time staying at this property. The views are phenomenal! The sunrises and sunsets are gorgeous as well as the moonlit views. You can enjoy your morning brew watching the sunrise and moonlit walks to close out your day sipping wine on the lanai. There's also an area looking over the ocean and we even saw turtles and dolphins swimming by. The condo has all the amenities you'll need and the beds are very comfortable too. We loved it so much that we extended our vacation and the property manager was very helpful and accommodating. We will be back!! Thank you so much! Mahalo nui loa!

The room delivers!

Views and A/C were must haves and this room delivered! The whole unit stayed cool and we were really comfortable. The pictures dont fully do the view justice. You can feel the gentle thud of the bigger waves hitting the rocks just steps outside. You can watch a sunset while having a glass of wine in the evening.
