In the wake of the Lahaina fire, Puamana continues to embody the spirit of Hawaiian resilience, even as the surrounding landscape has changed. While some amenities were lost, this coastal community remains a beautiful and peaceful retreat.

129-3 Pualei Drive, completely rebuilt in 2017 with modern coastal living in mind, stands strong. After a day at the beach, step into your contemporary home and rinse off the sand in your warm outdoor shower. Enjoy the sunset from your front lanai, and prepare dinner in your updated upstairs kitchen, which overlooks the ocean and palm trees. The outdoor barbeque is perfect for grilling, and the private patio on the mountainside offers an intimate spot for gatherings.

The home’s unique reverse floor plan provides privacy, with the kitchen and living area located upstairs, featuring vaulted ceilings and large windows that let in plenty of light. Split AC units keep each room cool and comfortable, while the downstairs bedrooms open to three distinct patio areas, designed to embrace the island’s indoor-outdoor lifestyle.

Though the fire affected much of the area, Puamana’s 30 acres of oceanfront tropical gardens are gradually recovering. The community remains a serene and low-density escape, offering seasonal sandy beaches and nearby surf spots. While some beloved facilities, such as the gym and clubhouse, were lost, the spirit of Puamana is alive and well, and neighbors continue to share stories and support each other.

The details we love about 129-3 Pualei Drive include cool blue-grey walls, plantation-style finishes, driftwood-style flooring, contemporary cabinetry with stainless fixtures, white Cambria quartz countertops, walk-in showers, recessed lighting, extra storage, and a downstairs mini-fridge for cocktail hour on the front patio. Despite the challenges faced by the community, this home offers a modern, serene retreat with the charm and beauty of island living.

Unfortunately, the historic clubhouse and some amenities were lost to the fire, and two of the three swimming pools, including the adult oceanfront pool, are currently undergoing maintenance. However, Puamana continues to provide a unique island experience, making it the perfect place to unwind and relax. The Dolphin Pool remains open and available for guests to enjoy.

The place was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The location was great and made it easy to explore the island and enjoy the nearby beaches. Puamana is fantastic. The neighborhood is beautiful, the neighbors are lovely and the house is spectacular. Just steps to the water with a clear view of the surf and middle reef. Perfect size for 2 adults and 2 teens with ample shared living area and a large kitchen. The location is literally central to everything Maui has to offer. We will definitely be back and most certainly will aim to stay in Puamana again.

Staying at Puamana in Lahaina was an absolute dream! The property was spotless and beautifully maintained, with stunning views of the ocean that truly took our breath away. The sunsets each evening were unforgettable, like something out of a postcard.The APVR team made everything so easy from start to finish. They were incredibly friendly, responsive, and helpful throughout our stay. It really made the whole experience that much better.I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful, picturesque, and relaxing getaway in Maui. We can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful place to be

129-3 Puamana is a beautiful place to stay while in Lahaina. Great layout, beautiful lighting and windows, comfortable beds, lovely showers. Quiet neighborhood. We spent most of our day out and about and it was a comfortable inviting space to come back to each evening. Would 100% stay there again if in the area.

Great stay

Everything about this VRBO is what we needed. Home was nicely kept and furnished, the community is perfect for our needs-quiet, pretty, and lots of options for the kids-3 pools and super close to the beach. Communication was great, the hosts are organized and super professional.

Beautiful Home and Great Location

Really enjoyed the stay here. The reverse floorplan allowed for a beautiful view from the areas we were in the most. The pictures don't do this place justice with how nicely it is finished and decorated. It was a great start to my sister-in-laws wedding trip. The main critique about the property would be that the what we believed to be the water pump would go off in the second bedroom during the middle of the night which was very loud and disruptive to our sleep. Also, adding a floor fan in the room could be beneficial for people who would like things a little more cool! Thank you for having us!

The property was in a perfect location. The unit was very clean! Well stocked with everything! It was so sound proof! The view was amazing! The rules were a little over the top as far as the property goes not the unit. Seeing security with a radar gun as people are driving was a bit much. We felt we had to very quiet at the "quiet pool" which we decided we just would not go to. We are are not loud people but didn't feel comfortable with the rules. Having said that we loved the cleanliness of the property and would return to the same unit.

Wonderful property and location

We had a great stay at Dave’s place in Puamana. The location was spectacular for our family trip. Right next to the pool and a very short walk to the beach access. It was even better than the pictures, and we were pleasantly surprised the moment we walked in.

The best place to stay!

This was our very first trip to Maui and I did a lot research before deciding on this place and it did not disappoint! Dave's house was clean and beautiful just like in the pictures. We loved everything about the house from the decor to the views to the location and it had everything we needed. Parking was only a few steps away and so was the pool and beach! The property management checked in on us a few times and I knew if I needed anything I could easily reach out to them. We're definitely staying in Dave's house next time we're in Maui!

Maui Stay

We spent four nights here with my wife and two tween/teen boys. The property was exceedingly clean and had everything that we needed. The beach was a 90-second walk from the unit, so there was almost no effort to see the sunset each night. We didn’t walk to Front Street, but you certainly could if you wanted to skip parking hassles (about 1.2 miles to Cheeseburger in Paradise).

Great Rental

Excellent house , spotlessly clean and exactly as description. Puamana is a lovely resort with plenty of amenities and landscaped gardens. House was just a very short walk to a lovely beach and there are pools and tennis courts. We were able to walk into town which was about 15 - 20 minute walk. Communication with property manager was great and sorted out small issue straight away. Highly recommend rental property.

Amazing community!

This is a great property! We absolutely love the Puamana community. It is such a relaxing community that has multiple pools and a great really mellow beach. The condo is amazing, very spacious and clean and there are multiple useful outdoor spaces.

Excellent Maui Condo

The condo was exactly as advertised. Checkin and checkout was smooth. The two small issues we had with the stovetop and bathroom room were immediately acknowledged by property management. Overall we would highly recommend as the grounds and surrounding areas were well maintained and beautiful.

Best unit in Puamana

This property was in one word simply fantastic . We stayed with our 3 children, ages 13,15 and 17 and they also loved this unit. We have stayed in other properties at Puamana, some of them right on the beach, but none of them can compare to this property. Even though it is not on the beach it is literally 50 meters from it and it has so much more to offer than the properties on the beach! The layout of this unit is just so much more inviting, it is modern and beautiful. There is a lot of closet space and tons of drawers. Everything is beautifully organized and there are no frivolous nonsense in the closets like some rental units. The high ceilings gives this unit a wonderful open and spacious feeling. We would definitely return to Puamana and would love to rent 129-3 again.

Amazing home!

Our stay was amazing! We loved Maui, but the home is definitely a home away from home. From the decor to the cleanliness and the great family friendly neighborhood. By far one of the best vacation homes we've stayed in. We would definitely be back in the future. The beach is right in front, although the waves can be a little rough it is great to have the kids play by the shore and watch the beautiful sunset. Thank you!!

Beach life art it's best

The condo was beautiful and exceeded our expectations. It is newly remodeled and decorated with lovely furniture and top of the line appliances. Our family of four adults and two teenagers were very comfortable and there condo had everything we needed. We would definitely rent this again.

Fantastic quiet area for a stay

We stayed here in May with our adult son and his girlfriend, and could not have been happier with the setup. The house is as beautiful as it looks in the photos and the property management company was incredibly responsive. (The first day we discovered the blender was broken and they had a new one delivered to us less than 15 minutes after we emailed them!) A couple of things that are noteworthy that may not have been clear in listing: - The bedrooms are set up as two master suites on the lower floor with en-suite bathrooms. This is ideal for adult couples staying together. The upstairs also has a corner "TV room" with a full bathroom and sofa bed that can be separated with a Japanese screen if you wanted a third place for people to sleep. - Facing out from the property just to the right of the house across the street there is access to the ocean. The beach there is somewhat narrow and rocky but still great for seeing the sunset, getting your feet wet, and would even work for snorkeling. - There is also one community pool around the corner from the unit and the oceanfront pool by the community center is about a 3-minute walk. Gorgeous sunset views from this latter area. - It's a bit of a hike to Lahaina and you are not going to want to walk there every time you want coffee. That said, Lahaina was a little crowded and loud and we were glad to be some distance away. - Another great thing is how close you are to Highway 30 which makes every place within easy driving distance. We could get to Kaanapali beach in about 12 minutes. - While the decks do not have much of an ocean view, the back deck was very quiet, shaded, and very relaxing and we found ourselves sitting and talking there often. - There are large flat-screen TVs in both bedrooms and in the upstairs "great room". - This is a quiet, family neighborhood, and not a place for big parties outside. That is exactly what we wanted but if you are looking for something more raucous you might want a different place. All in all, we could not have been happier with this unit. It was everything we had hoped for and more.
