We were really looking forward to our stay.
Unfortunately the hotel were unable to satisfy our dinner reservations due to staffing issues, which happens, but no effort was made to offer alternatives or assistance in arranging an alternative which, due to the hotels remote location, meant an hours drive.
Our room was booked for two adults and an 11 year old child but it was far too small. We could barely walk around the beds and could not open the wardrobe. However, the room had recently been refurbished and would have been comfortable for two people.
The nice lounge / bar area was reserved for breakfast (no idea why this wasn't served in the restaurant) but was laid for breakfast in the afternoon so we had to sit in the "tap room" iwhich was dark, dirty and had holes in the roof. It was also frequently silent with no atmosphere at all. There was a large and airy restaurant but this was closed off until the last day.
On our last evening the restaurant was opened and the environment and staff were nice but it was like having dinner at my Grandma's (I love my grandmother but she was of another time when it came to culinary matters)
The staff were very nice overall but the whole place lacked warmth and atmosphere. It was a bit depressing really.
