We are from the US and had no idea this entire area was almost entirely India/Pakistan/etc. We didn't feel unsafe, but got looks everywhere, wasn't the cleanest, and nothing but Indian food close (even pizza nearby had "Kentucky" pizza that was Tandoori chicken. I will say there was a fantastic coffee shop Baluchi that was surprisingly nice (like out of place nice). When we first arrived we walked around trying to find it because map put us in a back alley with all our bags. We finally found the easy to miss front door which was really just a doors width between two businesses. While the provided pictures look bland (not much for furnishings) we quickly realized why. They were handpicked from a clearly recent and unfinished renovation. The bathrooms were recently redone, pretty nice walls/floors. However, the downstairs shower head the cord didn't reach the wall hanger. We used an old cord to tie it up but bust out laughing when we turned it on and it barely spit out 6 inches. So all 5 of us had to take showers upstairs where the wand would be better to wash dogs than people. At least the cord reached the hanger but was about 4x5 inch head and sprayed straight out. It worked though and had hot water. The vinyl floors throughout look newer but whoever put down...there were gaps all over. Kitchen cabinets had panel kicked in and missing door, backsplash falling off from water damage. TV still had plastic on and no trash cans anywhere. 3 stars is generous, but incomplete.
