Booked for my husband's birthday. Before we went, we had several texts from the hotel asking us to cancel with Expedia and rebook directly. I didn't, as we had used vouchers with Expedia, and I would have lost money, and also I didn't like the way they were trying to pressure me to do this. On arrival, we were asked to provide ID and a bank card for a £100 pre-payment. I don't carry cards anymore, and this resulted in quite a heated exchange with the manager as she would not budge on this and in the end, took a £200 payment from my bank via my phone. I was upset by this as it left me short of money for the planned birthday expenses. She said we should have had an email explaining their terms, but I hadn't received this. When I checked my emails later, the email she mentioned only arrived after 6pm, so I would never have seen it before we left in the morning. It really felt like the £200 was a punishment for not bringing a bank card. This soured our initial visit, but for the rest of the stay, we didn't see the manager again, so we tried to relax and enjoy things. Ozzy was welcoming and provided great customer service. The breakfast trays were ok, but the drinks were tepid by the time they reached us on the top floor. The 'free' drinks and nibbles are only between 7-9, so if you go out for the evening, you don't get them, so all in all the treats offered felt a tad gimmicky in the end. The room was tiny and the bathroom even more so. Overall it was ok but not for us.
