Maple Oak Tree House by Garden of the Gods in the Shawnee National Forest

  • Stay in a real Treehouse! Unfortunately, VRBO does not offer a category for tree houses so we had to list this as a cabin. The Maple Oak treehouse is perfect for 2.... It will sleep 4 but we do not recommend it for 4 adult sized people (unless you really really like each other!) Maple Oak treehouse is perched about 16' up between a Red Maple and a White Oak over a small creek bed. There is a 2 person swing under the lower deck to sit and enjoy your campfire. Table and chairs are provided on both the upper and lower decks. The kitchenette has a 2-burner portable electric cook top, a mini fridge, coffee pot, toaster, sink and all the dishes you'll need. We supply complimentary coffee, coffee filters, cream, sugar packets, salt, pepper, hand soap, dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels, firewood and camp chairs and of course, FREE WiFi. Maple Oak is affordably priced. This tree house is part of Timber Ridge Outpost and Cabins. All guests will check in at our ice cream and gift store, Garden of the Gods Outpost.Located just minutes from the famous Garden of the Gods Wilderness area, Pounds Hollow lake and Rim Rock in the Shawnee National Forest, this little gem is right where you want to be. There is a pavilion on the property for all guests to enjoy with tether ball, horseshoes and bags (corn hole) games as well as a catch and release pond for fishing. Guest will all check in at our store Garden of the Gods Outpost; an ice cream and gift shop located a couple miles from the main resort area.Timber Ridge Outpost and Cabins is ranked #1 in our area on TripAdvisor with over 200 FIVE STAR reviews. Very clean. Very relaxing. Enjoyed going to the garden of the gods trails and hiking. Host was very responsive and friendly. My pets had the best time and I think it’s so awesome that they allow them. Location is beautiful. Will definitely be back

Had a great time, very friendly people. Only set back was not any food choices in the immediate area but that's not their fault.

Clean and cozy! Minimal hot water but not unexpected for a treehouse.

Staying in this treehouse was so cool! It was clean, easy to find, and as comfortable as a tiny house in a tree could be. It was TINY though so I wouldn't stay there with more than 2 people (and be sure to pack light!) Its location is excellent. The space under the tree and the pavillion were nice areas to hang out in. We drove down the road to look at the Iron Furnace ajd went to the gift shop for ice cream each night.

Bucket list- check!

We loved staying in the tree house. We came with our twin 19 year old daughters and while it was small there was plenty of room and beds were very comfortable. I think the expectation should be camping with very dry, comfortable enclosure air conditioned, heated and indoor plumbing!

Delightful Experience

The treehouse was exactly as described online. It was small of course but very functional. The resort was clean and quiet. Lots of things were provided including firewood. We enjoyed sitting among the trees in the evening around a fire. This is definitely a two person stay as it is small. Such a wonderful experience.

Peaceful and Quiet Getaway

We love staying in unique accommodations and this was one of those experiences! My family had a great time talking around the fire every night. The resort is so quiet and peaceful. The tree house has everything we needed. They have a fan upstairs to keep us cool at night. Somebody mentioned there’s no pots and pans, now they have everything we need to cook during our stay. Thank you for this wonderful experience!

Easy check-in, beautiful location

We loved staying at the treehouse! The staff were friendly and the host was very responsive. There was a t-storm warning in the area so we had concerns about safety but they were reassuring to us and said that should we feel unsafe they had alternative temporary accommodations available. Luckily the weather stayed nice so we didn't have to move around. They have basic kitchen stuff (dishes, eating and cooking utensils, knives) and a stove but bring a pot or pan if you plan on cooking inside too. The upstairs bedroom got a little hot but luckily we brought a box fan that we positioned on the bottom floor to blow air upwards that quickly cooled off the top beds. Even though it rained recently there weren't as many mosquitoes which was great. If you have kids or dogs there were many red poisonous mushrooms growing around the picnic area so just be careful. The only thing we wish they had was an EV charger or at least a 220- or 110-volt outlet next to the parking space so we can charge the car overnight. Being located near the main attractions is great, including the ferry you can take on the Ohio River to get to Kentucky and shop at the Amish stores. We plan on visiting again.
