The Way We Were
We lived through a nightmare while booking 2 totally unacceptable houses in Bethany Beach for 1 week with my husband's 2 sons, their wives and 3 children (5, 3, 1). We cancelled the first one because one of the bedrooms had bunkbeds. My husband asked me if I would be willing to stay in that bedroom so that his sons, wives and children could have the "normal" bedrooms. I was definitely unwilling to sleep in bunkbeds as if we were at camp, but when we attempted to get our money back we were told that we had passed the date for a refund. I still was not willing to sleep in a bunk bed and so we lost our down payment. The second house we booked didn't get good reviews but we were getting too close to the date that we would be arriving to care. I tried to reach the owner through 3 voicemail messages and email requesting return communication. Without any response I contacted the "host" and was told that they also could not reach the owner. They suggested that we might want to cancel our plans. If we could not reach the owner BEFORE the visit it was highly unlikely that we would be able to do so if we had a problem when we were there. We cancelled and received a full refund. These snafus turned out to be a lifesaver. We ended up with this BEAUTIFUL, CLEAN and SPACIOUS townhouse in Bethany Beach. NO ONE had any complaints, including the kids! Meredith was always patient, professional and prompt in answering our questions. We'll be returning again for sure!
