Our flight home was canceled due to the big storm. We had to wait 4 1/2 days for a flight home. We decided to drive to Atlantic Beach from Charlotte, to visit my husband's home town. We booked a king bed at the Alice on Monday morning, to stay Tuesday and Wednesday night. We arrived and were told that checking in at 3 pm instead of 4 would cost us. We were tired, so we just said ok. THEN he told us that he didnt have any king rooms because he just had 2 other people show up and took his last king rooms. Since we booked through Expedia, he couldn't refund our money. We asked for an ocean view room, at least. Instead, he put us in a 2 doubles room, NOT on the ocean side. These beds could NOT hold 2 people, so we ended up sleeping in separate beds. Wednesday morning, we went sightseeing. We came back at 330 pm to be told that the elevator area was shut down so they could strip and wax the floor. We had to go up stairs to the 4th floor, back downstairs at 530 pm for a family dinner, and back up the stairs at 830 pm to get to our room. At 7 am the next morning, they STILL had the elevators shut down. I called to ask when they were going to open up the elevators, and was told that they wouldn't open up until 10 am. We had to leave, so we had to bring a lot of luggage down from the 4th floor on stairs. When I got downstairs to drop room keys, elevators were standing open, but I could walk all the way across the "waxed" floors to an empty front desk, that nobody came to.
