We learned after this guest left that work was being done on the utility lines which affected the wifi (which was resolved when they finished) However there is no doubt that within the complex and on the lake, cell service is best with Verizon.

I would agree with this renter’s comment that his cleanliness standard “is crazy high”; however I wish their cleanliness standard applied to their own habits as there was trash left and the cabin was a mess after they left.. After his departure, he contacted me about an AC filter that he thought was dirty (it had been replaced two weeks prior, and we checked it again, and it was clean-however, I can understand why he may have thought that is it is made of a grey felt material and you can see it thru the vent opening so it may look dusty at first glance but it is just the material). He also commented that he thought there was dust on the blades of a fan in the great room (the ceiling is about 20 feet tall but we did check, and there was some dust which we cleaned). I do ask that if anything is amiss to let me know while they are there so we can make any necessary corrections. As far as the cove being dry in the winter, that is clearly stated in the cabin information, and when this renter reserved the property, I explained it to be sure they knew. We do try, but obviously, it is not possible to please everyone!

So glad you enjoyed your winter stay. As mentioned in the cabin description, the cabin is in a cove which is about 20 feel deep during the summer. During the winter, since there is a dam, the lake level drops about 40 feet so our lake front cabin (summer) becomes a cabin overlooking a stream in the winter months. The good news is that the main part of the lake is deep year round, so you can rent a boat at the marina and enjoy touring the lake (it is 260 feet deep at the dam). This is the best time of year to enjoy the quiet as well as the firepit and fireplace in my opinion.

So glad y’all had a good time. Our cabin is in a cove, and TVA starts to lower the lake level after Labor Day. Our cove was still deep enough to swim but getting shallow by mid October. The main lake is over 200 feet deep so you can still enjoy boating year round, and rent a boat at the marina as it is on the deep part of the lake. During the winter months, our cove will be dry except for the stream which runs thru the middle. TVA starts to raise the water level (it drops a total of 40 feet) so our cove is back to full pool level generally by Easter.

After this guest left, she notified me that there was dust on an overhead bedroom fan and some cobwebs on the porch. The fan was wiped down and as for the cobwebs, the spiders get busy in the fall, and they are spinning like crazy. We watch for the cobwebs and remove them, but some are on the outside screens of the screened porches. We power wash the screens in the late fall and in the spring, but in the late fall, we can miss a few in between guests. Of course, If anyone has a concern during their stay, I always prefer that they contact me so that I can try to correct it as I do want each guest to have the best stay possible.

I checked on the dishwasher and dehumidifier as soon as I read the review. The dishwasher was not drying the dishes properly, and has now been replaced (a Maytag with a stainless steel tub that works great). As for dehumidifier, I ordered a new one but then discovered the settings had been changed on the dehumidifier. Once it was reset, it worked fine. Our downstairs is generally pretty cool, but in the summer since we are on the lake, we do have a dehumidifier that will turn on automatically. Also, if the thermostat is turned down (72 degrees), then it keeps it cool and eliminates the humidity. In the future, I will be sure to ask my guests to let me know if anything is amiss during their stay so I can have the opportunity to correct it as quickly as possible.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. As for the steps going down to the lake, there are approximately forty (sometimes less when the water is high as it can cover the bottom tier), but there are wide two landings, and the steps are made of railroad ties with a sturdy handrail.
