Welcome to your next Nantucket retreat! The 1957 House offers great amenities and proximity to the area's best attractions. This classic shingle style home features three bedrooms and a spacious backyard and patio, perfect for a family to spread out and relax. Wood paneled walls and flooring provide a touch of vintage charm, while homey fixtures and furnishings offer a cozy environment for enjoying time together.

The central living room is a great gathering place, with a flatscreen Smart TV, DVD/VHS player, and books galore. A galley style kitchen comes well-equipped with full-size appliances and ready to prepare delicious family dishes at home. Meals can be enjoyed in the dining area offering strong natural lighting and views of the backyard. In Summer months, the back patio is the perfect outdoor space. Fire up the gas grill and join the family for some al fresco dining at the outdoor, six-seater dining table after a day at the beach. Amazing stay in Madaket at the 1957 house. This place embodies old school Nantucket/Madaket. Great location within walking distance of Millie’s and the Beach. If you want shiny new appliances and countertops this won’t be the place for you and there are plenty of other on island houses for that. This is the place your grandparents piled 8 kids into an old woody wagon and took off for the summer. Only recommendation for improvement would be having some more beach gear as an amenity.

Loved this house!

This is a classic, rustic house and we absolutely loved it! The location is great- on the bike path and near Madaket beach, the backyard private with a lovely patio area. House is cozy and nice. Would stay again!

Perfect Madaket Stay

The 1957 house was the perfect place for my family's trip to Nantucket. It had the classic old school Nantucket charm and everything that we could have needed for our stay. I would highly recommend booking this house if you are coming to Nantucket!!

it was clean and does have some room but there was no heat except 2 portable small heat units for a 7-room house. temps in the 40 at night and low 50 in the day. gas stove has a problem with trying to ignite a 2nd burner when you are starting one. kitchen light would fade in and out. The house smell very musty. outside does need some clean up

A strange stay

I booked through VRBO, but it was another company, Vacasa, who owned the property. There were no actual people to talk to about early check in, just a customer service line which wasn’t helpful. One of the window ACs leaked every time it was on but it was too hot to not have it on. There were ants all over the kitchen sink. While we stayed we got a mean note from a neighbor stuck in the door complaining about the radio antenna and about the yard brush pushed onto their property, which obviously have no knowledge of, so then we just felt like the neighbors were watching us and it made the stay uncomfortable. I wrote a complaint to Vacasa, the company who owned the property, and heard nothing back.

1957 House - needs to be updated!!!

The cottage has potential as it’s right in madaket near Millie’s. Unfortunately the decor & furnishings are stuck in 1957. Needs beds, mattresses, towels, new fridge, new kitchen cabinets, shades for lamps, etc. As an owner of rental property on Cape Cod I would never present a place in this poor condition. Very disappointing.

Not as expected

This house has so much potential but what is needs first and foremost is a thorough cleaning. There were cobwebs and spiders everywhere! It had a very musty smell as if no one had been there for months/years. It was also incredibly hot. The a/c really only worked in one room. We were so disappointed. It could be a such a charming place once it’s had some serious upkeep.

Quaint

The house was great. Just as expected. No air conditioning, but you really didn't need it as the nights were very cool. Location is good. Walk to Millies and hop on the bus to town for $3. We loved Nantucket.

Misleading post and trash everywhere

The initial listing showed AC but we arrived to find no AC and the listing had been modified which is very suspicious. Also there were mounds of trash left from the previous guest

We had a great time in Madaket. The house was completely sufficient for our needs. We spent most of our time outside but enjoyed our time in and on the back porch as well.
