Whether you decide to embark hiking on the Shamokin Falls Trail or plop on your ski boots to plunge down Upper Wild Turkey, the Explorer Cabin has an adventure ready for you. Come home to the modern farmhouse with an open kitchen main living floor to enjoy the perfect family style while viewing the star lit night sky. House is newly renovated & ready for you to enjoy your peaceful stay. Two master king bedrooms with private master bathrooms on top floor and bottom floor. Two rooms full of bunk beds to support large groups with a shared full bathroom. Massive open living room on the second floor, complete with kitchen and dining room, to share cooking and relaxation with your house mates. Amenities Include: - Pet friendly - Minute walk to mountain trails - 5 minute walk to Devil's Knob - 3 minute drive to Wintergreen slopes - 15 minute drive to Brew Mountain Trail (Virginia's best breweries & cideries) - Tesla EV charger (50 mph charging!) - Plethora of books & board games - Balcony with mountain views The Explorer Cabin is perfect for all groups: - Families wanting to share a cabin complete with log cabin bunk beds - Bachelor / Bachelorette parties wanting a getaway in the mountain - Adventurers wanting a Cabin retreat with modern farmhouse amenities There is plenty of space to park 5 vehicles in front of the house. Free street parking is also available for additional vehicles. If you are bringing pet(s), you must state so in your booking request. Just to let you know, we checked out yesterday at 11 could’ve stayed another day. I had two grandsons that were there, and I didn’t want them in such a filthy environmentWhen we arrived we stood outside in the cold with a code that did not work and after about 30 minutes, we got the correct code The worst experience of staying in a vacation rental I’ve ever had from doors that you could not lock, the windows would not stay, shut busted interior door handles, broken lights, & inoperable futon.The place had not been cleaned at all spiderwebs everywhere. Just absolutely nasty. I think someone needs to inspect the house and make sure that it is safe secure and clean. I have 26 pictures. I would like to send so someone could see the actual parts of the house that did not function as in windows that would not close doors would not lock broken futons left 24 hours before my time was supposed to be up because of the condition the house was in This will be the second time I’ve had to rewrite what I sent in because it did not meet the criteria, but all I said was true. Now I can’t resend the eight pictures that they would allow me to send.

Outstanding property and communication

Members of my family and I stayed at this property for a long weekend. The home is three levels which was awesome for those of us who wanted some down time to just chill. The main level being an open floor plan with a balcony was perfect for us all to enjoy each other’s company while reminiscing about my Father’s amazing life. The beds were comfortable and the thermostat worked beautifully to keep the temperature comfortable.The bathrooms were clean with adequate toiletries and space for us all. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of pots, pans, glassware, etc. Robert is amazing at quick and thorough answers to questions and concerns. Thank you so much for a fabulous stay.

Birthday Friends Trip

A group of friends and I surprised my husband with a birthday get away trip. We all LOVED the house! It was clean and spacious. The host was super responsive. We even talked about booking this same house again in the future.

Really on top of the mountain

The house sits on top of a beautiful mountian in a true resort. The owner is a super nice person i had a chance to talk with him twice. Our dog who is very fearful of everything was very comfortable. Only proble was we were only staying for one night on our way through the area. I would highly recommend if you want to have some quality family time and love the mountains this is a great place to stay.

Great location if you don’t mind hills

Somehow, although we knew it was in the mountains, none of us was quite prepared for the long and winding hill to get to the place. Our old cars struggled a little but we prevailed. There are also multiple streets that have variations on “Chestnut” so make sure you’re aiming for the right one. The park police are very helpful if you get confused. Ask me how I know. In any case, once we got there we were thrilled with the house. There were four of us friends who would’ve shared rooms but not beds so it was nice to have an affordable but extremely comfortable option with four bedrooms. Only two of us shared a bath and it was big enough we never got in each other’s way. We had great space for relaxing or playing games, and once we decided whose car could best handle the winding hill back down we had a great couple of days visiting a distillery, Monticello, Charlottesville, and a local winery/restaurant. We did try the hike that has an access trail a few yards from the driveway but it was way too warm so we didn’t get too far. We didn’t do much cooking but kitchen was well stocked with all we needed. Beautiful place for a great stay! Definitely recommend!

Great location, beautiful spacious home

Very spacious home with all the amenities. We had a large group (5 adults, 3 kids) and there was plenty of space for everyone to not only sleep and have their own bed; but we could all have breakfast together and hang out in the living area and play games without ever feeling like we were on top of each other. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Super Bowl Weekend

Great spot with great views! Beds were super comfy and the kitchen was well stocked with the exception of bowls for soups and salads. Loads of games for night time/rainy day fun! There were a few missing things that may benefit other guests such as a charging station, blue tooth speaker for music and internet was hit or miss. House needs a little TLC for minor repairs but I am sure they are all in the works! Thank you for sharing your space - it was a fun trip for all of us.

Anniversary Celebration

Six of us spent 2 nights in this house. It was very nice. Even though we didn’t cook, the kitchen area was well equipped. The beds were comfortable. Would stay here again if we return to Wintergreen.

Burger Bunch Family Gathering

10 adults met to celebrate a family reunion, Fathers day and our 57th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful weekend. The cabin was a great size. We did have to bring chairs in from the deck so we could all sit in the great roomand eat together at the table. Another sofa and more chairs would have been fantasich. Also a larger dining table with more chairs or even some bar stools would have helped.

Great getaway

We had a great long weekend at the property! Check-in and communication were absolutely wonderful. As others have said, the outdoor lighting can be a bit treacherous when arriving at night. The home was in great condition when we got there and was a great layout for two families with multiple children. Our only complaint was the cleanliness of the ovens. Other than that it was close to perfect! Thank you and I’m sure we will return.

Great stay

The house was great. We had an amazing weekend. Only recommendation would be to update, add lighting and a railing to the left walkway entryway around the house. We arrived late with kids and it made unloading the cars pretty sketchy. The current motion lights dont do much. One of the kids stepped, fell off of the first step leaving the back door of house to the left bc there is no lighting. Also, we could not find any other wood for the wood stove other than the small basket provided inside. We burned through that the first night within a few hours. Again, the place is great. Perfect space for families with kids.

Best Wintergreen Stay Ever

We’ve stayed at a few places in Wintergreen and this is now our “go-to” place. It was perfectly located and perfect inside. Everyone was able to spread out and be super comfortable! That kitchen was great and made prepping our own meals so easy!

Great Weekend with Kids and Friends

We greatly enjoyed our fall weekend away with our young kids and family friends at Chestnut Springs. We appreciated that there were two rooms with king sized beds-something that is hard to find. Great location. We didn't know what to expect for what would be available near by, but The Market was very nicely stocked with almost anything you'd need--not a lot of little kids or baby pharmacy items... But lots of usual options plus higher end and fun things for vacation! Highly recommend!

Lovely large cabin in the woods

We 6 friends spent 4 nights in the “cabin”. It is a lovely big house with lots of deck space too. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds are comfortable and the host was great! Fast positive responses to our questions and always pleasant. Would definitely consider a return visit and will recommend Chestnut Springs to friends and family.
