Fourstones Lime Kilns. These are the remains of a 19th century lime kiln. This large example contains at least four separate lime kilns. Limestone was built in kilns such as this to produce lime, which was used to make cement or improve soil quality. What a shame there is so much rubbish in front of this lime kiln. This is an important piece of industrial heritage and should be respected as much as more high profile ancient monuments.

This is an excellent place to stay. Very clean and comfortable. The hosts left such nice welcoming items, including a delicious lemon cake which was much appreciated. The views out the back are amazing. The bedrooms were so beautiful, with their old beams and stonework. Really a favorite. Looking ...

It was a superb stay. The place is lovely and the welcome pack an amenities were exceptional. Met the owners who were charming and very understanding about a fence which was sadly knocked.Couldn’t recommend this lovely place more highly.

Of Wilfrid's Benedictine abbey, which was constructed almost entirely of material salvaged from nearby Roman ruins.
