CanalHouse Private Large Home on Canal Front

CanalHouse is a unique Ocracoke home on the rental market for the first time in 2022. The long time home of an old Ocracoke family, who still owns the property, CanalHouse sits on a canal which leads to Oyster Creek and Pamlico Sound through a picturesque salt water marsh. The large back yard includes many live oak, bald cypress, and cedar trees. Enjoy the exceptional privacy on three large decks, including one on the back of the house with an outdoor shower and one surrounding an outbuilding right on the canal. NO power boat access. Please do not store or charge electric bikes on the property. PLEASE NOTE: CANALHOUSE DOES NOT PROVIDE LINENS. WE DO PROVIDE PILLOWS, BLANKETS, SPREADS AND KITCHEN LAUNDRY. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BED SHEETS AND TOWELS.

CanalHouse received a major upgrade in conjunction with post-Dorian repairs. There is plenty of room to spread out in the house and outside. The heart of the house is a large room that combines kitchen, dining room and sitting room with TV. There is also a larger living room with sofa, chairs, and TV that adjoins a small sunroom with writing desk. The kitchen is fully equipped with refrigerator, electric range, dishwasher and open shelving to make everything you need easy to find. The house has central heating and AC, WiFi, washer/dryer combination, and cable TV. The smaller bathroom has a standing shower only, the larger has a tub/shower combination. Parking for 2 vehicles is permitted. We invite you to enjoy your Ocracoke visit at CanalHouse and hope to see you!

CanalHouse is limited to four people, no pets, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. There are two queen beds and one single bed. CANALHOUSE DOES NOT PROVIDE LINENS. Please plan to bring your own sheets and personal and beach towels. Blankets, spreads, pillows, and kitchen linens are provided.

All guests of CanalHouse are STRONGLY urged to purchase cancellation insurance with your booking through VRBO. Things happen. You want to be protected.

My family stayed in Canal House for a family birthday trip. The house is very comfortable with plenty of space for family dinners and hang outs. Hope to return again to this lovely house.

Can’t wait to go back
We enjoyed every minute we stayed at the canal house. Beautiful,clean, and relaxing. Also was very close to everything ocracoke offers. We had a tropocal storm and Debbie made sure we knew where to park and what to do to keep our family safe. We will defantly be back. Can’t wait!!

Perfect getaway
The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. Being down past the British Cemetery made for a very quiet week. It reminder me of my early visits to Ocracoke 50 years ago.

A beautiful cottage
We had a wonderful stay. Everything was as advertised. (Even better than advertised). It was within walking distance of the whole village. We would definitely stay here again. The beds were comfortable. It was very spacious. We loved it!

Best location
A little (well not really little) hideaway back in a quiet residential are next to the British Cemetery. Lots of sitting spaces, well stocked kitchen and nice decks. No you don't need coffee filters. Myself and others have bought them and left them. Very well located within walking distance of several restaurants, the light house, Zillies for wine and beer. It's not a problem but the remote controlled lights sometimes respond to the buttons and sometimes not depending on their mood. Overall a wonderful spot. Would definitely rent again.

Best Hidden Treasure On The Island
This was our second time staying at Canal House & it was even better than the first! It is located on the quiet, canal/sound side with a large yard and much privacy. We enjoyed kayaking the canals behind the house this year, through the marshes and all the way out to the sound. It is amazing at sunset. The house is very roomy with two living rooms, three bed rooms, a sunroom & two baths…plus the outdoor shower which is a godsend after the beach. If you are looking to relax and unwind, Canal House is your place. Debbie is an amazing host with history of the property and all the information you will need for great dining and any necessities. She’s not an email away…her cell number is on the refrigerator and she responds immediately. I use VRBO frequently for business and vacations. It is RARE to find a home this wonderful, accurately advertised and an owner so thoughtful and accommodating. We will definitely return.
