THE SPACE:

Awaken to the dancing of the sea and experience the sun rising above the Pacific Ocean to the dawn of a new day, from your spacious bedroom. The king bed is adored with beautiful French linen and natural bedding.

The bathroom transitions between the bedroom and a private changing area. Both the concrete bath and rain head large shower are located discretely enough to create a private sanctuary where you feel as if you are bathing in the bush, yet uniquely appointed to provide uninterrupted views of wild grasslands and coastal cliffs. Equipped with quality bathroom products, luxurious towels, bathrobes, hairdryer and space for luggage.

The living and sleeping spaces are separated by a large sliding barn door to allow maximum flow between each area or the ability for privacy between the two rooms. 

A fully equipped kitchen provides amble room for meal preparation and food storage. Including a full gas oven, with four hobs, bar fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and an extensive range of cooking utensils, pots, pans and beautiful serve ware. 

A generous oak dining table with spacious seating provides the ideal location for a candle lit dinner, morning brunch or a place to plan, create or play a selection of board and card games on offer.

Your living space is arranged to allow you to curl up on the large sofa in front of the wood fire as the storms roll in. Open the floor to ceiling sliding doors and breath in the fresh country sea air on a sunny day. Watch the sunset over the hills and the night sky begin to appear.

Explore the landscape around Big Hill via a private walking track that takes you through regenerating native forest and expansive rolling coastal farmland to the private beach known as Raupo Bay. The perfect place for a picnic, swim, wildlife observation or coastal exploration.

Big Hill is located on Ridgecliff Farm, a sixth generation family operated sheep and cattle farm. Ridgecliff Farm uses regenerative farming practices to balance the needs of animals, land and biodiversity for long term sustainability. Ridgecliff has a number of biodiversity projects across the property to establish and enhance existing and new bushland and forests. Ridgecliff is a place where Sea, Bush and Country life meet and Ridgecliff stays are about embracing nature, exploring our special part of Banks Peninsula and settling into the slower rhythm of life that we all need once in a while.

90 minutes drive from central Christchurch and 35 minutes from Akaroa. Big Hill is remote enough to feel you have left the everyday world behind, but close enough to explore all that Banks Peninsula has to offer.
