Loon Lodge - Super Cute, Lakefront, Bonfire Ring, and Private Dock!

  • Loon Lodge is a super cute 1-bedroom, 1-bath dog-friendly lakefront cottage on Van Etten Lake, just north of Oscoda and just inland from Lake Huron! The home features a private dock, lakeside bonfire ring, a propane grill, outdoor dining, and a lovely sunroom with a great view of the lake! The home also has Wi-Fi, streaming television, wall A/C unit, washer, dryer, and a beautiful recently-updated bathroom. Provides for a fun getaway to northeast Michigan for couples or small families!


    NEIGHBORHOOD:

    The neighborhood consists of lakefront homes, which are primarily vacation and second homes. A number of retirees live in the area. It is expected that guests will help to keep the neighborhood pleasantly quiet and peaceful. The home is only a 5-minute drive from downtown Oscoda.


    PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

    1) KAYAKS: The kayaks belong to the owners and are not to be used by guests.

    2) PETS: Up to 3 dogs are permitted. More than 3 dogs or any kind of pet other than dogs is strictly prohibited. Please make certain that the pet fee is paid if bringing 1 to 3 dogs.

    3) AIR CONDITIONING: The property has a wall air conditioning unit. Note that it does NOT have central air conditioning.

    4) NUMBER OF GUESTS: Please note that our pricing is based upon the number of guests, with pricing being higher with each additional guest that is included on the reservation. Please make certain that the correct number of guests is specified on the reservation so that the pricing is correct.

    5) EARLY CHECK-IN: Our policy is to allow early check-in on the day of arrival if the property is available for check-in. We will not know until the day before arrival whether or not the property will be available for early check-in or not. You can check with our local property manager the day before arrival or on your arrival day to see if the property will be available for early check-in or not.

    6) LATE CHECK-OUT: We maintain a very strict and structured cleaning schedule. As such, late check-outs are strictly prohibited.

We had a wonderful stay at Loon Lodge. We were able to make day trips to Lake Huron and the East Tawas area. It was so pleasant sitting on the porch facing the lake. I recommend this cute place to stay.

The cottage was cute, clean and has a beautiful view of the lake. The lake was clean and perfect for our BOTE(stand up board) and kayak. The host was professional and accommodating. I would recommend this cute quaint cottage to my family and friends.

Cozy and relaxing

Lovely lakefront cabin. I spent a wonderful week working remotely while enjoying the peace and quiet of the lake. The cabin was clean and well-appointed, the wi-fi was fast, and the setting was gorgeous. Thank you!

Cottage was pleasant and clean. Kitchen was sparce along with basic tools and paper supplies were lightly stocked. Thank goodness we brought some basics with for cooking and back up household supplies! The bedroom was small and not well ventilated making it stuffy with summer heat and the A/C unit didn't vent near the room. The main closet was also locked down making it inconvenient to hang any clothes. The yard and beach front were comfortable and quiet. The beach area was not ideal for swimming but Lake Huron with excellent sandy beach parks was only few miles away.

Anniversary Getaway

The place was super cute. Very nice lakeview and patio. I did have to buy paper products such as toilet paper, as there was only a partial roll in the whole house. I was also very disappointed that we were unable to use the lake.Because at the time we were staying it was being chemically treated. That was not disclosed to me when I rented the property. We were looking forward to floating on our tubes. I wasnt to happy about that. Otherwise, I would go back!

We rented the Loon Lodge over the Labor Day weekend to celebrate my husband's first days of retirement. Loon Lodge is an adorable 658 sqft cottage but the open layout doesn't feel small at all, and the best part is that it's pet friendly! It is tastefully decorated with the bedroom and bathroom seems to have been recently updated. The screened in porch gave us spectacular sunset views each evening. The location is awesome, we spent time in Tawas City, East Tawas and Oscoda. The area is very pet friendly, we were able to take our pup just about everywhere...there's even a dog beach at Tawas Pointe State Park. The only minor point is that the bed is only a double and was a bit hard to sleep in, probably because we're used to a king. Honestly it didn't impact the enjoyment of our stay. Loon Lodge is an adorable and affordable cottage on a beautiful lake in a wonderful area of Michigan. I would not hesitate to stay here again on our next trip to this area.
