“Lovely, historic hotel with a great bar an restaurant area. The food in the restaurant is of a very high quality. Staff were friendly and helpful in general, although a couple of the younger bar staff not quite as much as the more mature staff. The room was nicely decorated and well appointed, although the bathroom was a little "tired", but was clean and well stocked. “A charming hotel in a very picturesque place. The room spacious and comfortable. I appreciated the classical music from the radio and the lights on when we entered the room on our arrival. A nice touch!”

“St Ives is a nice place, it still has a tradition, no chain, department store for goodness sake. The Golden Lion is a good base to explore from. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped. The bar and restaurant is nicely laid out and decorated. Breakfast was excellent. All in all, really nice. Would I stay again? Yes, most definitely.”

“Dormire nella storia...in un hotel che è li da 500 anni ! Scelto quasi per caso dovendo spezzare tra il Galles e l'aereoporto di Stansed è stata una piacevolissima sorpresa. Situato proprio nel centro di una graziosissima cittadina la location è calda ed accogliente. Stanze curate accessoriate e pulite. Ha anche un pub/ristorante curato e dai prezzi accessibili. Se poi si preferisce uscire, attorno si trova di tutto in pochi metri. Un plauso anche alla colazione, ricca e variegata”

“Very lovely atmosphere nice sunny evening so we could sit out in the courtyard, our room did look over courtyard so it was a bit noisy as it was hot so window was open all night but didn't spoil our stay. All staff were friendly and helpful at all times ”

"The housekeeping was a joke. For a 5 nights stay they never cleaned the bathroom (just changed the towels and the toilet paper) and never changed the bed. They took the garbage from the room though, daily . You have to get used to live in your own dirt. Breakfast was average with limited choices. Restaurant offered outstanding food of superb quality and taste, but the menu was limited. The gym is way above average and top notch for the level of the hotel. The SPA was superb and offered the best in class products. If you want a superior SPA you truly have to struggle to find one. WiFi was excellent and stable. The staff in general was young and inexperienced, but the tried their best."
