Arrived at 6pm and my room was not ready. Desk clerk said they were short staff hence the delay. At my prompting she called the manager and was advised to give me another room. This was acceptable. However, I had trouble finding the ice bucket. A congenial staff member accompanied me to my room and showed me the location.
I'm not sure it's a good idea to keep an operation going while doing major renovation. Since I am an early riser, the noise did not impact me. But it's not a good sign when there is a basket of ear plugs near the front desk.
