    How Do I Get to the Island?

    To reach Bois Blanc Island, take the ferry operated by Plaunt Transportation in Cheboygan, MI. Be sure to book in advance—especially if bringing a car, ORV, or boat.

    Once you arrive at Pointe aux Pins marina:
    1. Exit the marina and go left onto North Shore Road / W Huron Drive.
    2. Pass The Outpost—a convenient stop during your trip.
    3. Turn right onto the first off-road path: Hoover Road.
    4. Follow the rugged trail to a fork—stay right.
    5. Continue along the path until you arrive at Twin Lakes.

    Pro tip: A 4WD or high-clearance vehicle is highly recommended—especially after rain.

The location is amazing. But the cottage was SOOOO gross! The sheets were literally dirty. The pillow cases had dog fur and drool stains. Luckily it did have a washer and dryer, but you didn't expect to have to go and do the laundry on your vacation - luckily, we had laundry soap with us. The furniture and beds were the stuff that you would get for free at the curbside, extremely uncomfortable and broken. It's ashame, because with just a little TLC it actually could be worth what we paid. If they fix it up, it would be worth every bit. Also, there were no curtains - which I don't mind in the dining room/living room, but In the bedrooms -they faced another house. And most importantly, my husband has allergies and there is some water issue, as soon as you walk in it reeks of musty moldy. My mom and I, who never get head aches, both got head aches and my husband broke out in hives.

View and location are stunning and that was clearly what we paid for. The cabin was dirty (cobwebs, bugs on windowsills, smooshed bugs on walls, food fingerprints on cupboards, stained carpeting, old food on kitchen floor), the beds were incredibly uncomfortable and old, the kitchen had very little functional items (lots of random items but not what we needed to cook which was hard since you have to cook when you are there - example there was an angel food pan but no can opener or scissors). The cabin also had zero curtains even in the bedroom which was uncomfortable. Cabin aside we loved the location and the proximity to the lakes was stunning. We would come back for the views and would hope they would do a more thorough job cleaning especially for the price.

I would recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway. This place was clean, pet friendly and family friendly. Sunset and sunrise on the lake were amazing. The host was amazing and answered all our questions.
