“Beautiful spot, but difficult to access without a rental car. We were travelling on foot/train/bus and we had to rely solely on the 2 or 3 taxis in the township. The walk was ok downhill, but very arduous going back (We're in our 70's). We chose Varenna as it much more affordable than Ballagio, and the views are simply breathtaking. With a car, this would have been perfect, but we also found that the locals were very accommodating and actually took us home in their own vehicles a few...

It is located very close to the local bars and restaurants and a 15 minute walk from the train station. It was advertised as having AC, but only had one weak portable unit that couldn’t cool the home below 27C (80F), making it unsafe for our newborn who was overheating and crying nonstop. “Ideal location in Varenna. Detailed instructions to the property with pictures was provided and very useful. Like many rental units, it is minimal supplied with kitchen, bath and paper products. Just be prepared to supply your own. We enjoyed our stay very much. ”

“We had a great stay at this property. We had plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 adult children. Two of the adults only had one towel instead of two like the other adults and the amount of body wash/shampoo was not enough. We were not able to use the coffee maker with ground coffee. The apartment did have laundry soap.”
