False advertising - paid extra for a room with a fireplace… Upon entering the room was informed that it’s actually just a picture/decoration. There was no tea or coffee in the room, and it had not been properly cleaned. The amenities were severely lacking, heating/AC and all wall plug outlets did not work.
Restaurant hours were displayed incorrectly on their websites, and I was wrongly informed of them upon check-in (so, when I went downstairs to their only on-site place, they were no longer serving food)… I then had to go to the bar, where I just barely managed to order some food, last minute…
The salad that they brought out was disgusting, soggy, had old mouldy pieces of fruit and veg in it…
Additionally, the chicken that was served with the meal (which I also needed to pay extra for) was dry and burnt, and completely inedible - after a long day of travelling, this was rather upsetting! Yet, despite this - the server would not remove the overcharge from my bill…?
Then, after the extremely disappointing meal (which the server actually took away and threw in the trash before I could even finish eating it) I was loudly asked by the bartender to give a larger tip… I felt as though I was being publicly shamed and embarrassed in front of the other patrons (because apparently my tip wasn’t big enough for them), even in spite of everything that I had dealt with (regarding the awful food and the negative customer service)…
Not a good hotel room - not a good place to stay or eat?!
