It's a shame because this could have been a 5-star review. Before arriving, I FB messaged a couple questions, and they were helpful. When we arrived, we were surprised that it seems to be on the outskirts of a favela and on a very large hill. I was with my bf and never felt unsafe but would have been nervous alone. There were 2 flights of stairs to the reception, & 3 more flights up to our room. We didn't mind, but others may. Copacabana is only a 5 min walk. In the morning, we realized the "free breakfast" does not include meat, cheese, or fruit (cost extra). At night, we had a rooster crowing right outside our room at 3 am, and people LOUDLY party nearby until 4 am. Not their fault, but worth noting. Overall, the room was nice, clean, and air-conditioned. There was some mold in the shower. They wouldn't give us fresh towels even though we stayed 5 days. 1 night we came back to the hostel to have some drinks at the bar but there was a private party going on. They had a 24-hr laundry service (not cheap) that we used. We dropped it off at 9 am and came back at 8:45 am, and it wasn't done "because the laundry guy was working the party the night before". So we didn't get our clothes til the evening. At checkout, when I said I didn't think we should have to pay the entire price, they argued that it came back in right at 9 am (so 15 minutes after we tried to pick it up). So in the FB message, they had told us they could store our luggage, but didn’t mention was that it costs $
