“Room was in good condition however it was a disabled room that was not advised on booking. There was an intermittent unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom. Seeing the disabled room I immediately requested a room change but here was not much enthusiasm as we had a 2 night stay and was told the hotel was full the following night so not much they could do and on the first night there were currently no other made up rooms. “The hotel was like home from home, all members of staff made us very welcome and were exceedingly helpful. The food was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed both the breakfast and evening meals, good ingredients beautifully cooked and the service was quick and attentive. Our holiday was mainly to visit gardens in the surrounding area,, five of which were within one hours drive = heaven. York’s Park and Ride was a 20 minute drive away and we spent a good few hours sightseeing and shopping,...

“Beautiful country hotel, small and personal service, delightful comfortable en-suite rooms, warm inviting pool - often to ourselves, incredible top class gourmet food - formal dining and bar food served in the warm and cosy bar area or the relaxing lounge. So much choice at breakfast, all delicious, everything you could want. Can’t wait to go back in summer to enjoy the open terrace overlooking the pond. A real joy to stay here.”
