Country feel on a wooded lot, recharge from the city life…. Welcome to The Dorothy, centrally located near all that Southwest Michigan offers! Wineries, Beaches, Breweries, Fishing, Hiking, Restaurants, Wedding Venues, and much more. Whether you are venturing here with your family or friends, this area is unique and our home will add to your visit!

Welcome Home is our motto...warm and quaint, our space will feel like HOME!
Located on a private 2.5-acre wooded lot, overlooking a beautiful ravine, you feel away from it all yet right in town. Perfect for 4 adults but can accommodate up to 6 adults. The entire home is newly painted. Immaculate and organized with new flooring in the kitchen, dining, and bathroom, the rest is original, rustic hardwood. The kitchen has a complimentary coffee bar, new appliances, and a small dining area; renovated bathroom with full bathtub/shower; two bedrooms- both with a Queen size bed, TV, and large walk-in closet; open living room and sitting area with two Full size futons and large TV. High-speed internet with each TV having streaming capabilities- Netflix, Prime, Hulu, and more.

Our basement includes a pool, ping pong, foosball and game tables, tiki bar, darts, and putting green. Our electric fireplace will keep you toasty warm during our colder months.
The outdoor space has a lighted patio, plenty of seating, a dining table, a fire pit, gas and charcoal grills, and yard games!

The property inside and out is well manicured and clean.The neighborhood is quiet and friendly as well.The hosts provide everything needed for a comfortable stay and so helpful if you have an inquiry.Highly recommend this place for your visit

Charming house, great location

This was an adorably renovated home to stay in for our quick and impromptu visit to Michigan, with some of the nostalgic touches of the home left intact, which I loved because it brought me back to the days growing up visiting at my Memaws! I only wish that I could have stayed longer and hopefully next time when the weather is better...that being said, this is the perfect vacay home full of entertainment for bad weather days- the basement game room was great, a favorite by the whole family! This house had everything stocked that we could have needed, nice coffee/tea station provided, and quick response time from the owner. It is in a cute little quiet neighborhood, and close to several sites and cute beaches. Five stars in my opinion, and we will be back to stay for longer! Thanks guys!

Awesome Stay!

The house was in a nice neighborhood and close to so many things including Lake Michigan. Property was very well kept and VERY clean. Game Basement was nice since it was a little snowy. Loved the character of the house. Owners responded quickly. We had a very comfortable stay.

Immaculate property inside and out

We were impressed with the perfect landscaping and cleanliness of the house. The outdoor living space was very nice. We wish we would have had time to use the firepit. The wood logs and starters were all nicely available. We appreciated the host's responsiveness and clear communication.

Extremely clean. Great neighborhood, close to everything. Hosts were incredible with helpful videos via QR codes, a website with loads of recommendations from coffee to beaches, and great communication. Would definitely recommend and hope to be back! (Even for to see turkeys on the property!)

The perfect place

My family and I stayed at the Dorothy for a Sunday through Tuesday night. The place had everything we needed and ask the extra amenities that made the stay awesome! We had a fire in the backyard every night and the kids played games in the basement every chance they got. It was only a 15 minute drive to a perfect day at Silver Beach. The Dorothy even got rave reviews from teenagers!! We cannot wait to return.

The Dorothy was wonderful

It’s a great location to spend time with the family. Close to all the St Joseph area attractions and very relaxed place to spend your down time. We had s’mores by the fire after a long day of beaches. Everything was carefully curated by the excellent hosts. Definitely would recommend.

Beautiful place

While staying here, we found everything we would need/want. Our family had fun playing provided outdoor games, and using the grill and fire pit. It was very clean, and such a cute place. We would definitely stay again!

Very clean and great attention to details, some examlpes: Beds very comfy, lots of blankets and linens, multiple coffees and flavorings. The basement had lots of fun games such as pool , ping pong ect and outside had fire pit stacked with wood and lots of seating.

The Dorothy - great

Hosts were wonderful, and house was great. Very clean, nice neighborhood, large backyard, and easy check in. We only went for one night, but the hosts were awesome with a late arrival and late checkout. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a place in the area.

Girls Trip at The Dorothy

We enjoyed our stay even though the weather didn’t cooperate. It was close to the town of St Joseph with nice stores and restaurants. The home was clean and had everything you may need. We plan to go again next year and hope to use the fire pit to roast hot dogs and marshmallows. Be sure to know your passwords etc for the TV to work. Thank you Rich and Shelly!

We had a great stay! The house and property were clean and had everything we needed and beyond. We loved being able to eat outside on the patio that was well lit, and make a fire after. There’s plenty of space with the two bedrooms, but other options with the futons. The location was very beautiful with a nice countryside feel neighborhood. We had hoped to be a little closer to town, but it was a manageable distance and worth having a place to cook, lounge and let my toddler run around:) the host for amazing and available by text if we had any questions. Thank you! ❤️

Beach Family Vacation

The Dorothy is the perfect place to stay on a beach family vacation. Games in the basement and an outdoor fire pit are perfect entertainment for time spent at the house. You can get to many popular beaches in 10-15 minutes. The house was exactly as pictured and described online. Rich & Shelly responded super quick to any questions we had. The surrounding area was all very nice as well.
