Free street parking is available near the residence. However, in the high summer season it is recommended to use the public transport as the roads in the area get very busy.
A tourist tax of €2 per person per night (maximum 7 nights) applies from April 1st to October 31st and will be collected at the check in.
Children under 12 are exempt.
About the area:
Our apartment is located in the peaceful village of Sala Comacina, just a 5-minute uphill walk from the lake. Right outside the residence, you’ll find a cobbled stairway leading directly down to the lake (just follow the sign for LAGO). You’ll also have immediate access to the Greenway del Lago di Como, a scenic 10 km walking path that passes through some of the lake’s most beautiful villages — Colonno, Sala Comacina, Ossuccio, Lenno, Tremezzo, and Griante. It’s an easy, picturesque route that winds through ancient stone villages, green gardens, elegant villas, and charming churches - superb in any season.
Sala Comacina itself is a small, traditional lakeside village — quiet and authentic, yet with everything you need for a relaxing stay. You’ll find a small supermarket, bakery, and butcher nearby, as well as restaurants and bars by the lake where you can enjoy an evening aperitivo or dinner with a view.
Families will love the local playground, complete with a basketball court, football field, and a public sandy beach — a great spot to spend sunny afternoons by the water.
Having a car is a great way to explore the area and gives you plenty of flexibility to visit nearby towns. However, do keep in mind that roads are narrow and parking can be tricky in some of the small lake villages — a compact car is definitely recommended over a large vehicle.
If you prefer public transport, Sala Comacina is easy to reach:
The C10 bus runs between Como – Menaggio – Colico and stops right in the village, just in front of the bakery. The journey from Como San Giovanni station takes about 50 minutes.
In summer, a free evening shuttle bus operates between Argegno and Menaggio, making it super convenient to join local festivals and events without worrying about parking.
There’s also a public ferry service on the lake (though not very frequent in Sala Comacina).
