I have stayed at this hotel dozens of times, and this was most definitely my last. Upon arrival, I noticed a terrible sewage smell in the lobby/reception area. There were renovations outside, so I attributed it to that at first. The check-in process was quick and smooth. However, when I entered the room, it had the same smell coming from the bathroom. I had to demand a room change, as that was obviously something that maintenance wouldn't fix quickly. The new room had no smells but was in dire need of a renovation. Curtains were frayed, the TV barely worked, and the AC sounded like an old motorcycle. The bathroom was mostly clean, except on a second glance, you could see that there was mold everywhere. The sink tap had terrible water pressure. The shower, while strong, weirdly pointed towards the wall, so I had to shower on half the stream to avoid rubbing against the moldy tiles. Room service food was bland. Breakfast was fine, but not even close to how great it was on my last stay (prior to the hotel being sold and changing name). If you wanted anything sweet, it was banana cake galore every day. All other sweet options would run out fairly early and not be replenished. Staff was friendly and super nice, but noticeably frustrated with all the issues. It's a shame that this once great hotel is decaying so quickly (but still charging four-star rates). I won't be staying there again.
