"When it comes to location, this hotel is simply unbeatable. Staying right in the heart of Shanghai, with everything within reach, made it one of the best choices I could have made for this trip.
Breakfast is generous and varied, particularly if you enjoy Asian cuisine or warm cooked meals in the morning. For those with more Western tastes, the options feel somewhat limited and, after a few days, quite repetitive.
The room – and this is where things fall short. I stayed in a suite, which naturally raises the expectation of extra care and attention. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Over 3 nights, the room was not cleaned once. Not a single time. I had eaten at the desk, tidied up as much as I could, but a simple wipe-down of the surface was clearly needed. A piece of fruit core left on the table on day one remained there until checkout – a small detail, perhaps, but a telling one. I flagged the issue directly at the front desk, yet nothing changed. To be fair, the housekeeper assigned to the floor was genuinely friendly and kind – this may well be a hotel policy rather than a personal failing.
Bottom line: Despite everything, I would not rule out returning. The location is simply too good to dismiss. However, if cleanliness and attention to detail matter to you – and they should, especially in a suite – make sure to address expectations clearly at check-in. These are my honest observations. Yours to judge."
